Juninho referenced in Brazil Call up Conspiracy

Interesting story this morning about ex Brazil player Neto going on a rant about the Martinelli and Jesus call ups for the Brazil World Cup squad.

Suggesting the selection of Martinelli is a disgrace and making the claim that there are some sort of shady dealings behind the selection. Implying it's a conspiracy to raise Martinelli's profile so Arsenal can flog him and they and Juninho's Ituano can make some cash off the back of it. The implication seems to be there has been some agreement made between Edu (Arsenal director of football) and Juninho.

Bizarre rant, but I don't know enough about the situation over there to say if there's any truth or if Neto has been to the Bernie Slaven school for bitter ex footballers. I suspect the latter, but found the comments interesting.

Sounds ridiculous on the face of it. Martinellis been a key player this season for the team sitting top of the biggest league in the world. Surely it'd be more odd if they didn't pick him.

And especially with Jesus being at the same club. I always think it's smart when international sides take advantage of situations where clubs have done all the work getting a chemistry for two or more players playing together.

Martinelli wouldn't have made the England squad. Not that it means anything with regards to his selection for Brazil but I'd be comfortable with any of our right backs up against him.

Neto's just bitter, and only got one cap against El-Salvador in a Friendly, not exactly a position to think he can call the shots.

Jesus has 56 caps, and this year has been his best in the opinion of many.

He's banging on about Martinelli's 33 career goals, but he's 21! He's got 5 goals in 13 games this year, from Left Wing (a goal every 220 mins), playing every game for Arsenal where he was fit, who are top of the prem (the hardest league in the world).

Martinelli likely won't get a kick, all tournament (he'll be backup to Vinicious), but he will probably be one of the first names on the team sheet come the next world cup, they'll fit him in somewhere. It's good for Brazil that they have the benefit of being able to blood young players through. Ronaldo went to the world cup in 1994 and didn't get a kick, but the experience no doubt helped him in 1998, when he was probably the player of the tournament (and the best player in the world). Not saying Martinelli will be Ronaldo, of course he won't, but he's a left winger and could be an exceptional player.

I can understand Gabigol maybe justifying a selection, but he's a centre forward/ No 9, and he's not going to get in there, against much more proven players, playing in much higher-level leagues. He did nothing in his spells away from Brazil.

I love a good conspiracy. Especially one questioning the call up of one of the more in form players in the Premier league.

It's not like he is slumming it in Palace reserves.

I hope not, I remember people crying about him missing out previously, yet he's not a good defender.
I wouldn’t have him in it either. I’ve seen him a handful of times this season and to me looks like his head’s gone. He makes weird decisions. I don’t think you could trust him going into a major international tournament TBH.
