If you need to claim Universal Credit make sure you find out when the company report your last pay date to HMRC, not when they pay you.

If they pay you today but don't report it until the end of the month you won't get any money.

I got paid off and actually paid March 22nd last year, but the company did their payroll report on 30th. I had claimed UC on March 26th but because I 'got paid' March 30th, I got no money after 5 weeks of UC and they don't tell you unless you know to ask.
 
Sorry to hear that Viv I’m sure with that much experience you won’t be searching for long. I would imagine your skills will be easily transferable to other sectors.

Yeah they seem to be. I’ve been at current company since Feb last year though so been a decent stint. We are currently training a company from India to come in and take all our jobs. Fun I know.

I’m currently a procurement administrator but previously the 2 roles before that I’ve been an assistant buyer. Very similar roles to be fair

Thanks mate. First 2 roles were with construction companies but current role is with Johnson Matthey so hopefully that will stand me in good stead for whatever’s next. Hopefully something permanent.

It’s tough to take Viv isn’t it?
I had my ‘chat’ in June last year.
Agreed to stay on to help the business transition and go at the end of March.
In fairness - they have looked after me.

The kicker is - this week I’ve had to have conversations with people I’ve worked with for years putting them at risk too.
