Kate, Princess of Wales - not seen this year.

She’s a public figure though, so we all have a RIGHT to know every detail of her health.

Maybe an unedited picture of the stoma is needed to settle a few people down?
Not sure why you find it hard to understand that by not clearly communicating they are allowing rumour and gossit to run wild. As a Boro fan you must remember the Wilder to Burnley rumours. He had the chance to remove all doubt and failed to take it (because they were true). The fake picture is the same as Wilder's answering of the Burnley question.

It could all be cleared up so easily and if it can't it is because they do in fact have something to hide.

I’d have to disagree. Refusing to shut down a rumour about the Burnley job is not QUITE the same as wanting to keep whether you are s***ing into a bag or not a private matter.
Isn't Nano just saying their approach to this is bad, not that anyone has a right to know her personal medical details.

People and particularly the media, have an unhealthy obsession with the Royals (which the Royals largely encourage when it suits).

Whether you think that's right or wrong is kind of a moot point. The obsession exists.

Lets say she is seriously ill. The desire for privacy is understandable and yeah, I think she has a right to it. But the media don't care and many of the public still want to know what's going on. It's maybe not right, but thats how it is.

Playing this game of secrecy and deceit is predictably having the opposite effect to what they presumably intend. It's just fuelled interest and fed the rumour mill.

They don't have to share all details, but (if she is indeed ill) wouldn't something like "she is suffering from an illness and we ask people respect her privacy at this time" do a better job at squashing some of the rumours? The wall of silence just makes them look a bit sinister.

Or maybe William is a true hero and taking one for team (ahem) by allowing some of the rumours to continue to deflect attention away from Kate's illness 🤔

But maybe the media HAS respected the privacy. Hence the OP… “Kate hasn’t been seen in months” etc.

It’s only on social media and, randomly, Boro football message boards, that the rumours have become rife

I’m pretty sure they said something along the lines of … she is recovering from abdominal surgery and won’t be “back on duty” til Easter

Press release from Jan -

"The surgery was successful and it is expected that she will remain in hospital for ten to fourteen days, before returning home to continue her recovery. Based on the current medical advice, she is unlikely to return to public duties until after Easter."

The Palace continued, "The Princess of Wales appreciates the interest this statement will generate. She hopes that the public will understand her desire to maintain as much normality for her children as possible; and her wish that her personal medical information remains private.

Nothing about farm shopping then?

They appreciate and understand the interest, but then release a picture that receives a kill order for being photoshopped to oblivion.

All of this is about PR, her team have shot themselves in the foot and allowed crazy conspiracy theories and memes to run wild. As they are funded by us, many people are correctly wondering why the balls up has occurred and who's responsible for it.

The Royal Family should not be producing fake photos, especially if they want statements like the above to be respected by the same people they court for their own publicity when it suits.

In fairness, I think the palace is just sticking to the boundaries they set at the beginning of the year.

They said that there would be no more comments until she returns after Easter. It would set a dangerous precedent if they were to do a u-turn now due to all of the media speculation.

What people are missing is that nobody asked to be told she was going into hospital in the first place, or that it was 'abdominal'.

There are loads of people going into hospital for operations every day. Nobody is wondering where those people are 3 months later.

They start these things, its their responsibility to finish them.

I'd say we have a right to know if she can't "work", we don't really have the right to know the specifics. There's an argument that we have a right to know if any of them have a terminal illness as it impacts continuity of the crown and the roles.....but I think that it would be fairly crass to invoke that, even for Charlie.

I'd counter balance this by saying we should have the right to vote them out if we think they are homeopathy loving loons, or sex-grooming perverts

Oooft
That last line has a few interpretations

But clearly they had an idea then of what the length of recovery time would be. They knew she'd have to stay out of the public eye and would not be able to partake in any royal duties until after Easter.

The speculation regarding her disappearance would have been even more intense had they not released this statement.

exactly, so when the original “wondering” about her absence started why didn’t they stick to the party line and say “you still won’t be seeing Kate before easter”? Why did they go off piste with a photoshopped image on Mother’s Day that they then had to row back from? Followed by a badly filmed but obviously staged trip to a farm shop.

If they won’t say “why”, the media and social media will start to fill in the blanks.

I am still sticking to that she is tied up in a cellar until she toes the line lol
