When I saw this game on the sky planner I thought.
What on earth is the point in this game? It must be so incredibly boring being a fan of Scottish football.
No wonder they get so overwrought about the 4 games a season that mean something.
My opinion, for what it's worth, is that Scottish football would be loads better off without rangers and celtic, also rangers and celtic would be better off in a kind if also rans league along with teams from maybe Portugal, Belgium, Holland, France? A kind of not super, super league, a mediocre league?
It would be maybe good for the team but pretty expensive for the clubs and exceptionally expensive for the fans to travel to away games. When I saw this game on the sky planner I thought.

Just looked at the league. The points situation is bad enough, but looking at the goal differences Celtic or on +78, Rangers +49 and the next highest is Hearts on +2.
Just a pointless league and it makes our league look competitive!
The away fan situation is probably the biggest downside of any cross border club league. If it ever happened then it would need to be written into the constitution of the new league that away fans travel would be paid for by the league, that might help?It would be maybe good for the team but pretty expensive for the clubs and exceptionally expensive for the fans to travel to away games.
But if Celtic and Rangers ever joined an Atlantic League they would also want to continue playing in the Scottish Premier. Similarly the European breakaway clubs would always want to continue in the EPL also. They don't want to give up on all that worldwide tv revenue and lucrative UK commerce that the Premier League enjoys. The away fan situation is probably the biggest downside of any cross border club league. I was one of the people that wanted the Euro Super League to happen though, I can't wait to be rid of the parasitic clubs at the top of the football pyramid.
That would be the worst of all worlds. But if Celtic and Rangers ever joined an Atlantic League they would also want to continue playing in the Scottish Premier. The Premier League has tightened up its rules since then. That would be the worst of all worlds.
I think at that point the other clubs in the league would vote to cancel the membership of the atlantic/superleague clubs though?
To be fair this season is the first season they've had an automatic group place, so there's been a lot of years without them playing in the group stages.Rangers and celtic despite getting free entry into the champions league every year have mustered 1 group win in 15 years
To be clear that one win in the group stage between them, not one of them winning a group
Thats their true level
The SPL would be a far better league without the OF, it is an absolute myth they are needed for the sake of scottish football

That would ruin the league as a contest for 18 teams rather than the current 10.The best way to sort scottish football is to move to 20 team leagues instead of the 12, 10, 10, 10 they have at the minute. Playing teams 4/3 times a season, bores the hell out of many. It won't change though because playing Celtic and Rangers at your ground twice a season is probably the biggest money maker for many.
