Lack of class and respect sadly lacking in this board

I agree they don’t have to like him but goodness what bitterness is being shown on that thread.

The test for me is would you voice such opinions in public, amongst your friends, in front of colleagues and so on, too many trolls lurking with their venom on these threads.
I certainly do voice those opinions in public. After what he did to the North of England, everyone should feel the same.

It's the way social media influences people to behave.

it’s about decency and respect. Someone’s died. Negative comments in the immediate aftermath should be withheld. The rip threads are there to allow people to pay their respects. They should be railroaded because his politics were different to others.
so if a public figure dies, their fanatics have carte blanche to rewrite history in that moment and tell the story about that person that they would like to, unchallenged?

No thanks.

As I said above, 30 years ago, pre-internet, we would be sat in a pub taking the pee out of redtop headlines about how great he was, insisting with our mates that he was indeed a tvvat. The only difference today, is that more people hear you say it.

I think you are entitled to your opinion - the “I’m glad he’s dead” lines are just in poor taste.

So that excuses the posts? Not in my book
You can post saying what you feel about some of the posters on here and what they have said about Lawson .
They shouldn't be allowed to post what they feel about a senior long serving member of Thatchers government.
What makes you think that's right?
Just so you don't have to wonder, I think the man was scum who happily watched the destruction of working class areas .

Lawson was an integral part of ripping to pieces society and selling off assets to capital. Any criticism he gets is justified regardless of his passing.

Also, a person dying at 91 is not sad or tragic. It’s a very long life. No doubt one that was very fortunate and privileged too.

Yes, yes I would. Biting my lip out of some misguided centuries old concept of "reverence"?

No thanks.

Tories can be real snowflakes at times. I have just read that thread and there isn't much which could be described as "threads with such venom, spite and open hostility".

Yeah, you liked the man, others didn't. Free speech and all that. You don't have to read it and can ignore the posters who have said something you object to. On you go.

I don't understand the thread title. It doesn't make any sense. If we're lacking a lack of class and respect then surely that's a good thing?
