Lewis O’Brien.

From the short time I have seen him play so far, he looks an improvement on Ryan Giles. Can attack and defend. If he is happy to play left back then good luck to the lad. Chuba has had his position moved, now at Ajax, Forss has had his position moved and scored lots of goals. If we don’t go up then maybe O’Brien will be first choice left back for Forest and England next season!

I said during the Southampton game he’s reminded me so much of how Giles played his attacking game.

Although he is starting as a LB, he doesn’t actually play the game there, it’s more of a LM.

Should’ve scored tonight like, but nice to see him getting into good positions… something Giles didn’t do anywhere near enough.

I think we've stumbled across him playing LB but he could quite easily make that position his for the season. I'm glad he played there again last night to give him more exposure to the role, but he's making it his own now and has to start there.

He's proven quality. Probably wasted a bit at left back but he's the best option there at present (Bangura might be the long term solution when fit, but too early to tell).
Yeah he looks a quality player and I feel like he could give us more in the middle but needs must I suppose. Engel doesn't look upto it so it's either this or back to Coulson at LB which isn't ideal either

Said at the time of him signing and I still stand by it - he will be our best signing this summer.

He's slightly wasted at LB, but he's that good that he can do a better job at LB than our 2nd/3rd choice LB.

Hopefully Bangura is back soon, so we can get O'Brien in the middle of the park to effect play, even more so.

Agree he is 'wasted' to an extent at LB, but he is helping with shape and structure there, and still offering much needed support to the midfield from there too.

Really hope Bangura can step up when fit, as a fully firing O'Brien in CM will be one of the standouts in the league.

Not a fan of playing him there at all.

He's a midfielder, we should play him there, especially when we have 3 left backs on the books.

He's obviously going to look good going forward, because he is.

So as it stands you would rather Engel went back in as he is a recognised LB

Squad game my good man

I'd rather we played Engel there last night against League Two opposition, yeah, unless we're just giving up on him as a signing after a handful of games.

It was the perfect opportunity to allow him to build a bit of understanding and confidence.

Instead, we had an on loan midfielder out of position for the entire match.

Looked off the pace in his first few games but maybe to be expected, thought he was excellent against southamton. Didnt see him tonight.

Dont really care who plays where as long as we get results and play some decent stuff.

Coulson might as well pack his bags and leave as he now appears to be 4th choice left back.
Strange recruitment in this position when we only have 2 recognised centre forwards...

... but playing exceptionally well, and continuing to build form and fitness after another good performance from the weekend.

Also, its unfamiliar position so maybe Carrick wants him to get used to it more if he intends to play him there for the next couple weeks.

Maybe this is Carricks next 'Akpom' .... by January O'Brien will only be known as a Left Back 👀
