Lewis O’Brien

He's getting better game by game, but I still think there's a lot more to come from him and he's still a bit away from being totally up to bring match fit.

He's player I really liked at Huddersfield and hope he can get back to that level and with us.

Thought Azaz was great too and getting better game by game.

Sure I saw something more in the £8 million to £10 million range last summer. But he's been crocked and hardly ripped the league up since then.

They have FFP issues I believe?

The fee may well depend on how desperate they are for books balancing cash, to avoid slipping the wrong side of the arbitrary line and getting sanctioned.
They signed him and Toffolo for maximum of £10m and his career has stalled a little since then, plus he'll be on decent money, although I'm not sure how long he had left on his contract. It won't be a big figure I'd guess.

Given how we've looked to do loan deals this season I wouldn't be surprised if we've agreed a permanent fee as part of the loan

If Hackney is off in the summer, we should definitly spend a chunk of the money to bring him in permanently, weve bee crying out for that kind of midfield energy for a good few years.

We need to spend a chunk on CM irrespective of wether Hackney is here or not.

He’s a quality Championship player and his long term injury is one of the main reasons we have struggled for consistency.

If we could buy him that would be a huge signing.

It's nice to see him as an actual CM. Funny old thing he's looking decent 😉

He has a great engine and puts himself about. Interestingly on his Boro interview said he's still not fully fit and feeling pain. So will only get better.

I have a feeling he may end up signing for us in the summer. That or another season loan. I think Carrick likes him. Plenty of comments about his character etc when he was out.

I guess a fee would be an issue. Think they paid a few quid. Yet still after that elusive Howson longterm replacement. We will need one or maybe 2 CMs in the summer (Hackney dependant).

The news on Hackney and Howson doesn't sound great. He may get a long run in the side now.

He's back after months of injury [don't forget] and was on a good run before then.
He's got sticky-out ears, which give him extra aero-dynamic lift when rounding other players.
Furthermore, he did well today an well frightened the over-priced Foxschitt!
Good lad.

Listening to Carrick's interview, didn't sound good on Hackney and Howson. Wouldn't be surprised if the news is true about them being out long term and Hackney for the season - bad knee injuries. That means it will be Barlaser and O'brien for the majority/if not the rest of the season. Have to hope they both stay fit and perform to a good level to keep us competitive.
