Line of duty - poor ending indeed

Was a poor ending i agree, but letting him appeal his retirement etc just means there will be more , osbourne saying no corruption , carmichael, put in place to carry on the cover up , buckles out of way as fall guy . Sadly i feared they would carry on as its a moneyspinner & they are skint. The show however is now in danger of becoming a parody of itself

OMG, don’t tell the OCG, or they’ll be round your gaff in an SUV to dish out some GBH before the ARU can intercept in an ARV. The SIO will need more than an MIT and a UCO with access to the PNC to provide Intel to the CPS to help. The WPU are on standby as we speak.
Excellent sit rep there.

It was a tough one wasn't it. There were very few characters which would have caused a shock if they were H. Most, like Carmichael or maybe Lomax were a but too obvious. And it would have been a travesty if it had been Steve or Kate. That's probably why the reveal was a bit "meh"

I liked the bit where they intercepted the prison transport van though

This was the most infuriating thing for me, the jargon which in reality is never used to such an extent.

How people kept up is a mystery to me.

The more I think about it, the more I think it was a clever ending. A big reveal and exposing of corruption right at the top was never going to happen because that rarely happens in real life. Let's face it we know from all the Covid goings on that the top brass often get away with it and it's the little chancers that tend to take the rap.

I was disappointed with the ending but only because I expected the whole thing wrapped up and Hastings, Steve and Kate go dancing off in to the sunlight like the end of Top Gun, but the writing was on the wall when Ryan was killed off camera, how many wanted to see the little upstart suffer and be made to squirm, but no a cliffhanger and he's gone, no glass box interview and no chance to see his reactions.

Still by far and away the best programme around and hopefully there will be a 7th series but I think deep down that's it.

I was disappointed and shocked when the camera turned on Buckles.

Yet its actually not a bad ending. He was a nobody who went through the ranks from season 1. He's always been in and around most of the main story arcs. It needs to be said he's not 'H' but someone who picked up the mantel after Hilton died in series 4.

The one thing I will say is that it was an absolute fastball as in I doubt anyone thought it would be Buckles. He was banged up and frankly an idiot.

I would have liked it if he suddenly went all Usual Suspects and came across as a cold and calculated killer in the interview. All along his 'idiot' persona being an act.

I can't believe how many people think Line of Duty is great TV. It was ok when it started but the last couple of series have been contrived rubbish 😗

I always thought this about Game of Thrones, except in my opinion it was rubbish from series 1 episode 1, each to their own I suppose.

Now Mrs Brown Boys, surely there's a programme we can all agree is top quality 🤭

It's definitely been left wide open for another couple of series. Line of Duty does show the BBC is relevant and capable of producing great television.

I get really good value for me licence fee - radio, website and iPlayer.
Jed Mercurio has already said that he has the plots for another couple of series, but the BBC haven't picked anything up (yet).

I lasted about 4 series of Game of Thrones before I gave up.
Mr's Browns Boys - goes without saying, a once in a generation comedy tour de force, we should just be grateful to have seen it's rise 🤘 👀🤘

That's the main problem with it all though.

It's been marketed and heavily promoted as the final episode and final reveal.
It clearly was not.

It's almost definitely coming back, and the anger and disappointment will subside when there's actually something more interesting at the end of the line than incompetent guy falls upwards in a life of crime and is only caught out by poor spelling.
It might be more realistic for the grand conspiracy to be a fairly amateur outfit, but it's far less entertaining.

Hopefully they'll improve some of the cringeworthy and irritating dialogue when they come back. Sick of "no comment" and Arnott and Fleming calling each other "mate" every 5 seconds.
