Personally I'd go with your house, Amazon and a takeaway with a few cans.Going to London with the wife to do some Christmas shopping at the start of December. Can anyone recommend somewhere nice (but reasonable) to stay? Just some shopping during the day and out for a meal and drinks on the night.
We stayed in Greenwich Premier Inn last time we were down. It is the same as every other Premier Inn, but price was a bit cheaper and 5 mins walk away from DLR, or 10/15 mins walk from Cutty Sark and a river station, where you can get to other parts of London by Ferry, which is a bit different.

Stayed there for the Leicester League Cup Final weekend. St Katherine's Dock right next door, easy access to town, crackin hotel.I know you said reasonable, but if you fancied a Christmas treat for you and your wife, have a look at this. I’ve stayed here twice this year with work, views are stunning, 10 mins walk to Tower Hill tube and a ‘spoons’ just a bit further along.

We prefer to stay in Greenwich when we go to London. It’s a lovely area and away from the hassle and bustle! We have booked a few places round there on Laterooms.
