Hi, We are on our way to London this morning and are staying in the Mercure London Bridge Hotel and was wondering which tube to get from Kings Cross. So far I have looked at three different tube stations that look within walking distance of the hotel.

Any advice would be gratefully received.

Yes, looking at where the hotel is, the nearest tube is actually Southwark but you'd need to change. Another option is to cross to St Pancras and get Thameslink. Make sure you are in the front of the train and get out at Blackfriars and go out of the Southern exit. Northern Line to London Bridge is probably easiest.

For what it's worth, Capy's suggestion of going over to St Pancras is probably the quickest. Straight across the road from Kings Cross and trains to Blackfriars are every 3-5 minutes and take 8 minutes.

Yeah, but any of the close tube stations you'd be doing that walking to change between lines (for example picking up the Jubilee line at LB to then get to Southwark)
Indeed. I meant that the 10 min walk from London Bridge is easiest option IMO. Should maybe have said it's ONLY a 10 min walk from LB station and no faffing around on tubes. So your original advice of Northern line is best I'd say.

Thinking about it further (I've just come out of the tube) London Bridge on the Northern Line is easiest if you don't know the area. Make sure you use the Borough High Street exit and you will come out right at the end of Southwark Street. It's an easy walk from there. If you are in the third or fourth carriage from the front of the Northern Line train it will make it even easier.

the tfl route planner originally never wanted to show this but ..... the easiest way (especially with any luggage) from Kings X to London Bridge is via Thameslink.

As it says above St Pancras is virtually the same station as Kings X, and you avoid going down to tube ... that northern line section is a bit of a loop around to London Bridge anyway. Plus you get a great view of the river from Blackfriars station as it is built across the bridge.

All of the Thameslink southbound trains go to Blackfriars. If you want to go onto London Bridge (follow the exit signs to Borough High Street), it is only 5 to 10 mins walk.

If you do this, 3/4 of the Thameslink trains go via London Bridge. If you find yourself on the 1/4, get off at Blackfriars.

Thameslink is under ground.
