Looks like the 3 that went up last season are coming straight back down again then

I was hoping they would but their good run has turned into an awful run(3 points from the last 30).
It will be annoying if Everton get away with it due to the failure of teams below them, rather than their own efforts.
Would you really want Everton in the championship to compete against next season

...and the 3 that got relegated last season could go straight back up again.

The gap between the 2 leagues is huge. Remember just how good Burnley were last season in the Championship?

It's depressing that us and a load of other teams are chasing the ultimate prize of a place in the Prem, but if/when you are there the chances of succeeding are slim.

Absolutely. They’re an absolute mess. Their squad is threadbare and there’d be a clamour for Branthwaite. They have a couple of players on loan and it’s hard to see the England goalkeeper hanging around. They don’t have money to spend. That’ll only get worse if they go down. They’re the new Sunderland imo. They will go into League One before they get back to the Premier League.

It's very unusual that all 3 promoted teams come back down the following season. In fact it's only happened once in Premier League history 97-98.
It's been more usual that all 3 stay up which has happened 4 times.

Luton have a reasonable run in that’s for sure but they aren’t showing the battling stuff they were producing a month or two ago and injuries are hitting them. Losing at home to Sheff U, failing to beat Forest were red flags for me. I think they will be relegated. The only team that might escape are Burnley and that’s unlikely. They are at least showing some mettle now with their recent last few games - drew at Chelsea, West Ham and beat Brentford
Yes their injury crisis is hitting them hard. I just think they can pinch a win. They have Bournemouth at home on Saturday, that could be the one.

For all the talk of Luton giving it a go compared to Burnley and Sheffield United, no side has lost more than them since January, and there's only them and Everton that have failed to win a match in that time.

Someone always says that, or similar. Why would they be any good next season if they come down?
Would you Everton to get liquidated - and if not why not?

I don't want them to go down, and don't want them to stay up - am interested but no strong feelings either way. But if I was a fan of one of the relegated teams I'd be disappointed that they didn't take up the option to sue Everton for millions (think £300m was quoted)

I think Luton will stay up. I’ve said it since the playoff final win, I think there’s a thread from that match where pretty much everyone said they’d be relegated in no time. They’ve managed to keep themselves in with a chance going into the second week of April. I think if they can just pinch a win the pressure comes off and the teams around them will start to panic even more. I can see them doing it. I hope they do it.
I would like to see Luton survive. They have played football. I just don't think they will.

Luton are on a poor run and don't look like arresting it - they look a team on the slide and Barkley and Townsend ( senior) are perhaps running out of steam. They are missing Adebayo who was scoring well for them has missed their last 8 games.

A lovely old ground, preferred it before the new stand went up behind the goal, the old away end, when you stood beneath the overhanging upper tier.

And this is why I'm not interested in promotion. Who wants a season like those teams are having? I didn't have much fun in 2016 either.

But some teams do go up and have good seasons. The championship can be good, but if you never actually achieve anything then there's little point and it grts pretty depressing
