What about the vocals though? Say what you want about Bono but he is a good vocalist in my opinion.

I think you are underestimating his talent, I just don't like the band members but the music and lyrics are brilliant.

Sacrilege alert. The Undertones. Yes, the band whose 'Teenage Kicks' was lauded by John Peel as his favourite song of all time. But for me Feargal Sharkey's voice noise feels like someone gozzing in your ear.

Tragic isn't it. One of the all time great voices back in the day, even as recently as 10 years ago he still sounded fantastic. There are some cracking YouTube videos from festivals around 2010-2012 where he sounds incredible. God knows what happened though.

Yeah totally. I came across some videos of the "axl rose band" (GNR in 2001) and he sounded better than he did in the 90s. i think he just needs to admit to himself his voice changed, lose the falsetto and drop an octave if he can't do it any more..

I'd say its tolerable nowadays. In the final years of Oasis it was unlistenable, especially live.

But it was good in the 90s, imho.

It was great in the 90s but it’s way too nasal for me now. I can’t bear to listen to him.

One for me where my taste has changed down the years is Pearl Jam. Back in the day I couldn’t get away with them purely because of Vedder’s voice. However, in the last few years I’ve gotten into them massively to the point where I’d say they’re up there as one of my all time faves, including Eddie as a vocalist. Some turnaround!

Arcade Fire - Win Butler's voice grates on me at times and the songs which are song by the ladies sound so much better such as Empty Room.

Win Butler is Arcade Fire. Not sure you can like a band but not its lead singer personally.

I find singers with a perfect voice more grating than singers with imperfect vocals. It’s never been that important to me anyways how good someone can sing.
