LUTON AWAY

I'm in Leighton Buzzard. There's at least 4/5 Boro fans here. One of them lives about 5 doors away. He was shocked when he heard a loud "Up the Boro" when he was washing his car 😂

We have 1 in our village his daughter is boro mad and was asked to trial for Luton. Her dad said no. She is in an under 12's Toddington team now. I am not sure if that got of the ground. We do have an under 14's girls side.

I think he said no because he wanted her just to enjoy her football.

My daughter is in her class at school and trained with the under 12's but prefers basketball.

His daughter clearly has some talent though.

I'm about 10 miles east of Luton, and it's one of the few grounds I've not been to as I was living abroad for the 3-3 draw and then obviously last year there was no fans.

This year I appear to have booked a holiday without looking at the fixture list and I'll be up in Yorkshire for the match rather than travelling across from Hitchin - gutted !

It's one of those fixtures that we Southern softies can attend easily, cheaply and have a realistic chance of getting tickets for.

Toddington, really. I have a good friend in Toddington from the band Thrilled Skinny I met him after Boro's last game there, Jonathan Woodgate's debut as manager.
For a little place everyone knows Toddington. Possible because we have an m1 service station.

Population about 4.000 I think.

I've only been the once & we got beat 5-1

The match was our final promotion season at AP

Me & my mate got a lift on bus at Newcastle full of Pink Floyd fans who were going to a PF concert at Earls Court, we got dropped off near Luton & thumped a lift, a nice lady picked us both up & dropped us outside the ground, just before dropping us off she told us her son played for Luton, how crazy was that
I was sat in Luton end (oh the pain). Sadly this was the last league game that Steve Pears played for us. Luckily joining Lutons membership scheme for this game (living in Stoke at the time) did enable me to get a ticket for some trivial game later in the season. So looking back the day wasn't all bad.

Yeah, I don't struggle to get tickets as I have a season ticket but I do like the idea of being home and tucked up in bed by 10:30 whilst everyone else is trudging back up the A1 (obviously I do the reverse for home games).

I've actually never been. It seems strange as I class myself as 'well traveled' on Boro away days over 35 years.

Small ground. I doubt the allocation will be big. 2k maybe?
Coventry's allocation was 1032 last weekend. Sold out and weren't allowed any more.

Yup, particularly on a school night, a cold, Tuesday school night.

I can bus it there and back and have a few beers and natter with fellow fans. It's something I miss about being so far from my hometown.

I mean I miss my family as well, but you make special trips to see them, I can't seem to summon the energy to travel up to boro for games. I take in the odd game when back home, but not nearly as many as I would like to.

They seem to have come from nowhere, almost from the brink of oblivion to the Championship.
Supporters Trust owned as well I think?
The future?

There is a group of Boro fans that drive to every home and away game from the Dunstable and surrounding district - one guy, Roy is 86 years old - home and away season ticket holder. Many of you will know him as he has been an ever present for decades.

Yes correct & what a final game to play for the Boro

Everyone knows Roy, top shorts wearer. You obviously remember him from school, Rob.
Funny you should say that but he went to school with my uncle and late auntie. He was a right rogue according to them. A loveable one, am sure. And yes, Roy is still wearing the shorts to this day. He drove himself to the Riverside game the other day.
