Matchday Thread - Norwich v Middlesbrough

Great to see this inquest going on as to why we didn’t win away to the team a good few on here have predicted as runaway winners of the league.

I think it shows we are in there punching 👍

Really happy with the result. People may dispute this but I feel like we play better against sides who want to play out from the back (i.e Swansea, Reading, Bristol City) Feel like we have caught teams out when the centre back has to step out with the ball. Just missed Tavernier today who is probably our best decision maker in the final third.

As gravy said, it's the midfield that needs the creativity adding as we simply don't create enough chances or create space in the opposition's box.
Saville, Howson and Morsy should be fighting over two spots and one of them should be getting in and around the box when we have the ball.
Howson & Morsy for me, Howson MOTM today & Morsy doing well what he's good at

A professional and disciplined performance we just lacked a bit of quality in wide positions to create any clear cut opportunities for the strikers, when we are playing a more defensive line up we’re very difficult to beat and hopefully the signing of Bolasie will make us a more cohesive unit up front, don’t like being negative but Spence needs a rest from the first team at the moment, loses possession too often and his decision making last 3 games has been abysmal, only a young lad but he’s a weak link at the moment.
Spence frustrates the hell out of me why he doesn’t take his man on is baffling the amount of times he gets a 1 on 1 & doesn’t even try to knock it past his man & go use his pace but he always seems to try to come inside.

After a few disappointing games enjoyed the performance. More football less hoof.
Would like to see watmore and Bolasie. Onwards and upwards.

The difference midweek was Fry. He gives such a strong base. To those bemoaning strikers.. We didn't have any on for much of the game.

Tav would have made a big difference today. Once we get Tav back, we will have some options in the middle and up front, which is good.

Nothing to complain about today. That was a solid performance considering the injury issues we have had recently.

Betenelli - 6 wasn't tested, one soft punch, but other than that did fine
Fisher - 8 Good start, aggressive, annoying, and slowed the game down when he needed to
Fry - 9 Sublime, waltzed through the game
McNair - 7 a great foil for Fry
Bola - 7 solid, not as adventurous going forward, but solid
Howson - 8 everywhere, a rel driving force going forward
Morsy - 6 non-stop energy but lacked quality on teh ball
Saville - 5 looks exhausted, could do with a week off but we have no other options
Johnson - 6 gave Aarons a tough match
Bolasie - 6 looked a bit rusty but was game and put the effort in
Spence - 6 better than in recent weeks, but needs better decision making

Akpom - 5 didn't have a lof of the ball
Watmore - 7 was a handful
Coulson - 6 steady, showed a bit of pace

Take that result all day.

I for one didn't expect to get anything today.

Promising start from our new right back who frustrated the hell out of Cantwell.

Get Fletcher back in the mix and the playoffs could well be on.

Stoke and Bristol City both losing right now.

Could be a good day for us if that stays as is.
You don't need to worry about them. They're not that good. Never trouble us whole game and they were lucky not to be 3-0 down at half time god sake. I expect that Boro will finish comfortable above Bristol City no worries. 👍🐏
