Matchday Thread - Norwich v Middlesbrough

Happy with that - after such a terrible week - we stopped the league leaders and were much the better side. Two very good debuts too.
Back to the levels we saw v Forest.
I don't think you can feel too disappointed we didn't beat 10 man Norwich as after so many terrible set backs this week - a point is definitely a point gained.

Excellent point, we clearly weren’t set up to try to win the match until Watmore came on.

The red card was a bonus, Norwich looked even less likely to score after that.

We looked the better side all the way through, we are not far away, just a bit more quality needed up front.

Our big issue even with Howson is that central midfield creativity (mixed in with **** strikers).

In a normal world there's no room for Howson, Saville and Morsy in the same side. They're all warriors but none are particularly creative, Howson once was but he's just getting on in years.

It's a 'good' result but the results that came before it mixed with the sending off have made it a frustrating one.

We've had this issue for 3/4 odd years. At least Warnock has seen we need wingers and sorted that and fullbacks in no time at all.

Just a Merson away from being a genuine threat to the league.

Darnell, have we ever had a Darnel play for us - man of the match and looks lively.

just a little bit frustrating we couldn’t force the win but what a great performance against supposedly the best team in the league.

Our inconsistency is so frustrating. On our day, today being one of them, we are a match for anyone. Yet Wednesday we looked a shadow of ourselves. Really hope we can get a forward in before the window closes as I’m sure Warnock can get that consistency back if we can just get a goal scorer.

We will only kick on once we get some ability going forwards in midfield, we’re good defensively in midfield but going forwards they are all completely ponderous and none of them want the ball in the final third. Saville was horrendous any time he got near their box getting rid of the ball as soon as he received it, one time he got the ball from Johnson in the box with no one near him yet gave it straight back without even having a look at what was on.

We are always going to be struggling to score with our 3 midfielders all wanting to play in our own half.

After a performance like that it’s helps to blow most of the doubt away. Now looking forward to the next two days and hopefully 1/2 more players coming before the window closes. Then let’s get on a good run of results. UTB

A professional and disciplined performance we just lacked a bit of quality in wide positions to create any clear cut opportunities for the strikers, when we are playing a more defensive line up we’re very difficult to beat and hopefully the signing of Bolasie will make us a more cohesive unit up front, don’t like being negative but Spence needs a rest from the first team at the moment, loses possession too often and his decision making last 3 games has been abysmal, only a young lad but he’s a weak link at the moment.
