Matt Le Tissier

Maybe, but Stones and Maguire aren't great as a partnership as were often reminded.
They're ok, maybe not a top ten (well certainly not a top 5) as a partnership in international football but still probably the best we have. They would be better with a better defensive midfielder in front of them to cut the supply.

Le Tissier obviously has some very strange opinions/beliefs and is a bit of a loony, but I don’t really think it’s fair that these kind of peopled are seemingly shunned by society these days. So he thinks differently/is wrong about stuff. The world would be boring if we were all the same and all thought the same.

I know people will say he spread 'harmful misinformation' during covid but anyone listening to Matt Le Tissier or seeking his advice during a global pandemic should really take responsibility for their own stupidity.
If he wasn't publicly spreading his crackpot nonsense then he'd just be that mad bloke at the end of the bar, and nobody would have an issue. The problem is when celebrities speak, people listen, when stupid celebrities speak, stupidity is spread.

Well yeah, but I think society needs to get better at realising that just because someone is holding their phone while stood at the end of the bar, they're still just a bloke at the end of the bar. He may be a 'celebrity' but that doesn't mean he owes it to society to think like everyone else. If it wasn't him talking nonsense, someone else would be.

But anyway, I've just got back from Canada and can do without a big 'discussion' with you, so whatever your response to this is lets just say I agree with it. 😁 ;)

no big discussion, we both agree that people shouldn't treat the world of a celebrity as gospel.

To be fair Mings was getting picked before villas resurgence, Pickford isn’t at a big club. Konsa, Dunk, Branthwaite! Then we’ve got Toney, Watkins and Bowen up top not at the top clubs.

Big club bias happens much less these days then say the early 00s
This is mostly a consequence of the top teams not containing enough English players to make up an international squad. Pretty much all of the English players at the top clubs are playing for England. We have to look at players that aren't at big clubs. I'm the 90s for example there were plenty of English players at the top clubs that weren't picked.

Just when I thought the conspiracy theories peddled by Le Tissier’s loons couldn’t get any more outlandish, then I came across this clip on Twitter.

I genuinely can’t follow this one and can’t fathom how anyone can think whatever this bloke is spouting seems reasonable? Surely these guys need to keep their theories simple to gain traction among their simple fanbases

Ah, the old Cruyff (re)turn! 👀

Matt Le Tissier scored goal of the season on a flat earth, that is how he got the ball to spin.

He didn’t get picked for England because he was fat and lazy. He might have scored quite a few screamers but there’s no way he would do that at international level and everyone knew it. There wasn’t exactly a great clamour for him to play for England at the time
Also because Paul Scholes was light years ahead of him.
