Michael carrick into 6/1 second fav

This is starting to look a bit of a mess isn’t it. How many clubs sack their manager without at least having some idea of who they want to replace the one leaving - hell plenty have the new bloke announced the following day

It would be ‘typical boro’ for Gibson to hire a large flowing body of water that flows into the sea as manager.. when most fans would prefer a human being!

We did with Wilder tbf, he was appointed the day after Warnock was relieved.

I think it just shows that we are struggling to convince whoever we want about the way we’ll be operating.

It depends on the circumstances.. if the manager is underperforming and an alternative candidate has been identified, then not so long.

If the manager has been unexpectedly fired for recent events behind the scenes.. then that manager will it have been identified yet. Bit of a moving target.

Some fairly big movement in the odds in the last hour or so. Leo, Cattermole and Edwards now the top 3.

Hopefully just means there’s nothing imminent, and those in talks are being kept well under wraps.

Reiziger’s big jump from somewhere in the 20s to 10/1 is interesting

We've already done it once this season with Tav and look where this has led us so why not do it again 😂

There's one genuine ITK on there and it's JMDAPD. He has connections with someone of Rockliffe so always knew who was coming before the press/media knew.

As for the others, I think they all just throw a dart and hope it hits the target, then claim ITK.
Shock horror, yet another dart thrown by someone on Oneboro who claimed 'Carrick was a done deal' has gone amiss.

Throws worse darts than Fallon Sherrock.

Glad it's not Carrick, didn't really want him anyway but as soon as they said he wasn't sure if he wanted to return to football because he was enjoying the break we should have binned him off.

It does ....the largest thread I've ever been involved in...and for what...nowt...the club will not relinquish keiran Scott's control and so we are going down a different route.
I think it's going to be Scott Parker...
My own thoughts no inside knowledge

Two observations:

(1) The point of a Director / Head of Football who “controls what the future looks like” is to ensure stability and smooth transitions between playing styles and managers.

Why, then, did we fire a manager without a new one being at the very least sounded out, if not lined up to take over immediately?

The weekend will be three games with caretakers. I’m glad we’re doing diligence and interviewing people. But, a recruitment process thats starting to look a bit scattered and a list of names that don’t seem to have much in common with the squad we’ve got doesn’t feel much like stability and a smooth transition.

(2) Does it give anyone else, and likely future manager candidates pause that NONE of the players the Director of Football has brought over the last 12 months are any good?

You could charitably say all the signings have taken us backwards. Leo’s first teamsheet dropped every single player brought in (on a permanent) since Scott’s been here, which speaks volumes.

I’m excluding the loanees Muniz, Giles and to an extent Steffen, because any team can get talented players from the PL on loan.

I believe in the DoF model. If it’s a good DoF. What are the signs that he is a good one? Because it certainly isn’t recruitment, building a balanced squad, or having a strategy with managers based on all the evidence so far.

Currently I've lost interest..probably a 24 hr thing but when things get a little confusing I tend to go for a long walk on the beach let the dust settle and await the news of who is taking up the poisoned chalice next ...

Wether it works or not sadly I will be going along on that journey all the way down or all the way up like most of us on here...
Be a strange ground to have league 1 football in but I feel we will rise phoenix like again...
Would much prefer the championship though its brilliant...

Not bothered about Carrick. I was interested in him having Phelan and Meulensteen as a trio but on his own he has no track record of success as a manager so is nothing more than a gamble. None of the other names particularly fill me with confidence or excitement either though.

I’ll admit I wanted carrick as the project excited me, but if he’s hesitant or dubious about coming back into football then it’s best we move on.
I'd imagine the wages Carrick would want (Along with Rene and Phelan - if those rumours were true) would be far more than Gibbo would be willing to pay. They've all worked at one of the biggest clubs in the world so god knows what sort of wage they were on.

If we appoint Lee Cattermole, who is the current bookies favourite, I wouldn't be at all surprised. The Gazette drip feed little things from the club, here is a quote from a recent article...

The club are said to be happy with the quartet currently taking care of first-team affairs, with Lee Cattermole earning praise from many inside Rockliffe. The former academy graduate is currently the under-18's manager and has impressed since being handed the role earlier in the year.

His coaching standards are said to match the kind of standards he set during his playing days, with many within the club particularly impressed this week with how he's moved up to working with the senior players, earning their respect in the manner that he has been getting his points across.

While not believed to be ready yet, there were even suggestions that his work this week has put him in the thinking as a serious contender to be a future Boro manager in his own right sometime in the future.

As soon as I read that I knew he could come into the reckoning. The club is an absolute circus. We just go round in circles.

If the club are serious about cattermole then surely he’d be in charge for Saturday and we would see what he could do, whether formation change or personnel.
