Middlesbrough retained list.

I'm surprised we haven't offered Johnson a deal. Thought he was one of our most important players up until the turn of the year, and didn't deserve to lose his place in the team, although wasn't he one of the players who got covid, which must have been a factor.

None of this a surprise really, thought it was clear Johnson wouldn't be signing on given his lack of game time since the turn of the year. Maybe he just fancied moving back down south, approaching the last few years of his career, and wants to be closer to home?

Shame about Tyrone oneill. Thought we had a good player there...shows sending lads on loan to 'man up" doesn't always work , coburn has overtaken him without going on loan.

As others have previously said on Johnson, he’s been an “ok” player. Can’t say I am disappointed to see him depart.

I am more disappointed that Fletcher is leaving for free (as we already knew).

5 goals, and the same number of assists last season - puts him equal second highest goal scorer behind Watmore. If it's the clubs decision, it's disappointing; as has been said though, maybe it's the money, maybe it's his own preference. 1622201341739.png

So is Stojanovic coming back after his loan? I just assumed when we let him go out in January that we didn't want him and he would end up staying there but no word on a transfer as yet.

He has said that he wants to stay with his new club, so I assume we'll be expecting a nominal fee. We could keep him here as a no.2 but I can't see Warnock keeping him if he's unhappy. It seems like we're looking for a backup to Lumley and if we can't find anybody else it may well be Archer.

I was under the impression Lumley would be the back up but could be wrong.

I think it was said he'd be no.1 when he signed and the Gazette repeated it in my link above.

"While Archer didn't make any glaring errors during that time, he had one or two unconvincing moments and Warnock explored other options in his search for a keeper, bringing in Joe Lumley, who will be No.1 next term."

I thought Johnson is a very useful squad player - I would have thought we offered him a contract, but he thought he could get more else where. As said he stil may sign back - its difficult at present because Covid has left clubs with less money and players are probably expecting the same wages as previously.

We need a squad of minimum 22 fit players plus youth players before kick off, not 19 like last year.

My feeling is that the number of released player will be at a record high as most clubs feel serious financial pressure.

Another in the ‘shame to see Johnson leave’ camp. Very useful player and in a team desperately short of goals and assists, he’d be one to keep for me. 4 goals and 5 assists from 20 odd starts (I‘m guessing) is no disgrace for a winger.

I wonder if we will see clubs cutting back their squad numbers next season and whether we will see a lot of footballers struggling to find a new home club.
