Minister quits as cant afford mortage

Wtf 118,000 pa take home pay of 8700 pm how my heart bleeds for george freeman mp for mid norfolk no mention of why his mortgage went from 800 to 2000 a month maybe lettuce truss and kamaze kwaiteng had something to do with it😅
How do you get £118,000 to equate to £8700 per month take home pay? It’s more like £6000 but that’s without taking into account any pension contributions.

MSE - with 25% pension contributions= £30k pension a year. Tough gig to pack in that.. £5k a month to spend.

I'm guessing he just has too many expensive & bad habits to feed..

Poor baastad.
I really feel for him.
Twice the facking average wage and having to shop in Aldi, instead of Waitrose.
There's a few old terraced two-up, two-down, in places like Fakenham, Dearham and North Walsham.
Downsize and learn to live like the rest of us.
Get a proppa job!
Travel Second Class and buy your own coffee.
Get a bike son and get some exercise.

Some of them think they can have several jobs and treat being a MP as a second job. One lawyer MP was based in the West Indies for while because he was in court over there. He said he earned more as a lawyer than as a MP.

They like the status of being a MP and particularly Minister, it strokes the ego of some.

A venture capital manager may earn more, but they are fairly invisiible and are not seen to control the Country.

Maybe we should question our MPs at election time about how many jobs they have and plan to have.

Especially the Tories

Yes. Some MPs take the p1ss and dont conduct their responsibilities as an MP with any dedication at all. Dorries comes to mind. There are a few more whose attendance records in the Commons is poor. They have other jobs. GB. have employed a few MPS to front shows.

He has an 'ex-wife' (plus kids) to maintain apparently - what's the betting he played away with a younger model...? - but it's the school fees that are probably rinsing him. Tories are incapable of seeing school fees as anything other than an essential spend - probably because they went to private school themselves. You simply MUST buy preferment for one's children!
