Just announced on the BBC. No idea what they will be though. Here we go again. Suppose that's one way to bury the No 10 Christmas Party story.

If they're are restrictions to come I think Johnson has got the mood of the country badly wrong and it will keep the Xmas party story front page for longer

I agree - imagine if they try and ban Xmas parties going forward. There would be hell on.

I'm meant to be at 2 gigs in December - not sure how they should be going ahead but I can't see how he has the moral authority to stop gatherings.

Exactly. It wouldn't be the first time that Johnson has misread the situation though.

I think that's why they doubled down on the denials; to try and get the story out of the way.

The government have got most things wrong. Even the things that they have done well, they haven't done in a timely fashion.

The media are partly to blame; talking about a surge in cases in other countries, where that surge often means fewer cases than we have here.

The organisation I work in asked all staff to cancel Christmas parties/ gatherings 2 weeks ago due to the amount of staff having to isolate following outbreaks after staff gatherings.

It's a real shame, but if you have 40 or 50 people together with a virus as easily spread at this you can lose a workforce instantly.

I appreciate all the anti-lockdown rhetoric, but locking down/ stricter measures are often required to maintain a level of staff required to provide basic infrastructure.

A lot of kick back at schools locking down for example does not take into account that if 4 teachers have to isolate due to testing positive/ family testing positive then suddenly the school often doesn't have the capacity to open. If cases are high in the community infrastructure gets overwhelmed due to lack of staff to run as well as lack of people to care. Hospitals shut services because they prioritise keeping those acutely unwell alive, not because they prioritise a specific virus/ condition.

Some measures are simple, and if implemented well and sooner hopefully we wont have to consider more severe ones. If we pretend Covid doesnt exist it isn't going to disappear, and once we hit capacities in hospitals/ illness in key infrastructure then services will independently have to lockdown/ reduce anyway. E.g cancelling non urgent surgeries and cancer surgeries in hospital/ schools closing etc..

Yesterday we cancelled our work's xmas party for this Saturday. It was at a large venue with lots of other companies. The venue stated that they were 'advising' taking a test before attending but not enforcing it. So wise decision was to move it to the summer. So the venue hasn't lost the money. We couldn't afford to take the risk, we have a lot of site shutdowns to do over xmas, no working from home.

You've always been searching for something
But everything seems so so-so
Tightly close your eyes
Hold out your hand
We'll make a stand
Forget their plans
And their demands
Plan B
They're testing you - but don't worry
Plan B
This week I'm strong enough for two
I'm coming
I'm running
I'm burning
I wouldn't sell you anything
It starts off just joking
And then they stop talking to you
And that's the worst thing of all
The worst thing of all
Whispers more than loud enough
Try to make you feel not good enough
Try this
Don't believe your eyes
Hold out your hand
We'll make a stand
Forget their plans
And their demands
Plan B
Bill Withers was good to me
Plan B
Pretend I'm Bill and lean on me
I'm coming
I'm running
I'm burning
I wouldn't sell you anything
Plan B
Hold on to me
Plan B
No don't be nervous. Just trust in me
I'm coming
I'm running
I'm burning
I wouldn't sell you anything
