Morgan Rogers

He's looked good against lower league opposition.

To be honest, I think a loan move to a League One club would really help him in terms of his development, but we can't really afford to be loaning any players out given our current injury crisis.

This thread reminds me of the one a few months back where fans were raving about Barlaser and comparing him to Zidane.
I thought Rogers was sloppy tonight and frequently lost possession. I was honestly bemused when the commentator talks about him being a cut above the rest around 20 minutes in. Maybe I need to give up on football, because Rogers still looks far more likely to do an Ashley Fletcher than a Chuba Akpom to me.
Guess we all see the game differently, which is the beauty of the sport.
Hope the lad succeeds with us, but jury still very much out for me.

Throughout the cup he's performed its in the league he's struggled and he frustrates as he doesn't get same time and space against higher opposition.

I think he'd be a league one star, but he's still got a bit to go to be a regular champo standard player, he's close though and still what 21?
Yeah, he's 21. He's had more game time recently than we'd have liked him to have ideally.

Think he would really benefit playing at a lower level, where he'd shine and grow in confidence, and hopefully he'll learn a bit more about how to play the game, as at the moment I feel he can be quite naive at times.

I don’t think anyone’s over doing it.

Wasn’t just the commentator who was impressed, plenty of Port Vale fans have been singling him out tonight.

This can be said about a number of our summer signings though. You aren’t buying top end level players for less than a million. They’ll take time.

Some will be shrewd investments who we will make a nice profit on in the future. Some won’t quite make it. Roger’s has shown enough so far to make me think he’ll certainly be a really decent Championship player at the very least, but we won’t see the best of him for another season or two.
No it can't! Our recruitment has been immense and all the players they've signed are already as good as the one's we had last season who were sold to big clubs for millions! Also, Jerpado Bravinas from Sporting Curitiba FC :sneaky: IYKYK.

Rogers > Ryan Smith 🤩

No! Cheese and onion crisps!

He'll miss the next game, maybe two.

I think he's an excellent talent, lots of ability, blows hot and cold, but he does create and score goals. He'll improve over the next 2 or 3 years, into a real talent at this level, maybe even prem league level
3 years and he’s in the prem

Bags of talent. Huge potential. Good technically ... just needs Carrick and the coaching staff to help him improve where he's a bit too casual. When you think about it, it's something you see in many walks of life, when someone has grown up so good at something, that they fall into complacency... they don't need to really try most of the time. So they get a bit sloppy.

He's very good. He seems to work well with Silvera, who has come on hugely since the start of the season. He was the other way round. Clearly loads of talent, technical ability... but he was so low in confidence it was hard to watch. Now though....different story.

Enjoy watching him play. Not everything comes off but he has some serious talent. Top scorer in the carabao cup too

The most important thing for me is that he loves playing for the Boro. Hopefully, he’ll keep improving under MC’s tutelage and go on to be a great player.
