Just because he was subbed doesn't mean he didn't have a very good game, just like he did at City.So why sub the best player off first.. are you saying Unal Emery doesn't know what he is doing?
Mostly Boro fans voting though.Their best player according to the voting on BBC website

I think that ‘style’ thing will be his biggest problem, you can have the best first touch in the world but if fans don’t think you are putting a shift in then they will have doubts. From reading the Villa forum midweek (haven't looked today) I think the general consensus is that he's showing some real bits of quality along with a bit of sloppy play but there was a constant criticism that he doesn't work hard enough to win the ball back or close down. Most of their comments were positive though and they seem hopeful about him.
I guess it's similar to the comments we used to see on this forum. Promising to see he can still show some of that quality at PL level though. Especially grabbing himself a goal today.
It's the way footballs evolved isn't it. Every team defends from the front. 30 years ago when teams played 4-4-2 the strikers weren't really expected to defend. Now every player in the pitch has role with and without the ball.I think that ‘style’ thing will be his biggest problem, you can have the best first touch in the world but if fans don’t think you are putting a shift in then they will have doubts.
It’s the internet age, the psychology of people is laid bare for us all to witnessFunny how people feel perfectly justified writing off a player as league one at best after 45 minutes, but when someone is our most creative player for months on end, is bought by one of the best teams in the country, then despite claims that "he'll just rot in their reserves", plays regularly and thrives....then it's "stop being so premature".
Not only a barometer of how much people know about football it seems, but also how desperate people are to avoid admitting they're wrong.
Exactly.. it's total rubbish when people say that players should stay in the Championship to help with their development at 21 and 22 year old. People saying the same about Hackney. If they are good enough they will get chances in a Premier League squad. Along with training with better quality players daily.Im old to remember when people said they right for his career was to spend time playing football and Middlesbrough than going to villa cos it would stunt his development.
4 starts in the prem will have done more for his development than staying at boro
Absolutely, but equally he wouldn't have progressed in the U23's - thankfully it looks like he's firmly in and around the first team, because he's a talented player (the turn for his goal was beautiful!).Im old to remember when people said they right for his career was to spend time playing football and Middlesbrough than going to villa cos it would stunt his development.
