I very much doubt that, you need a balance of players of every ilk...
We got new ingredients, but jettisoned other vital ingredients doing so....

Absolutely 💯, otherwise you end up being bang average....

You can only win stuff playing expansive football if you have the best players, like City & Liverpool....

If you don't have the players, you find a style that suits the squad & mould it into a winning unit - That's been us for a long time....

Now they've either ripped all that up & are trying to do it completely differently on the hoof, while still expecting the results....

Or there's been a disastrous fook up recruitment wise....
 
I think Lea Siliki can be the holding player in midfield, he just has to stop trying to thread the eye of the needle when he passes and just play it simple. He undoes all the good work he does with poor passing.

Doubt what? Saville being garbage, Howson being past it or Morsy being slow. Its not the players and fortge first time in years we have width, cover and options up front.

The issue isn't letting Morsy go, it's not finding a good replacement for him.

JLS has come in but early signs are that he isn't a holding midfielder.

If you review our squad, we don't have a natural holding midfielder, or cover for RB and LB. That's criminal.

Only peltier to cover Bola and Dijksteel now so likely need Jones to fill in, Coulson and Spence also had good games today and would have been perfect for this situation which we could all see coming.
The club is completely amateur in its approach to everything. Wonder if the players remembered to eat before the game today?
 
This is the problem, every time we lose a game some noodle is going to pipe up with ‘Morsy would have made the difference’.

But he didn’t when he was here? He was a liability. That’s why he’s gone.

I know its not coming off as yet but surely he was brought in for his passing game and ability to get forward. At the end of last season we had Howson, Morsy, Saville and even Wing who could all play that defensive holding role. We had no one like Siliki. Now we are left with Howson and nothing to replace him with or give him support when things go wrong.

Add to that no left back cover, no right back cover no left sided C.B and you can see why we are struggling when we don't kill teams off and they get back into games. It was embarrassing how easy they got past Fry in second half. Fry is a decent player but cannot play left side.

Lea Siliki can spot a pass, he just hasn't executed it consistently enough.

I don't really blame Fry for their first. 1 on 1 with a CF backing into you in the box all you can do is try & hold him long enough to get help from the front or try & block the shot when he turns.
He could've been stronger before the CF gets the ball, the CF bullied him from the edge of the 18 yard box to near the 6 yard, or called a midfielder back to help but the 'spare' midfielder was lost when two went to close the ball down, so Howson stepped toward their now free man in the D just to see the ball sail over his head and into the space he'd just left.

It was their CB Ekpiteta who bullied and beat Fry to score the goal. Not even a striker. That was only one of the many times he was beaten.
