Most underrated premier player ever

Yeah, broke some record or other.

Think it was Schwarzer in goal, those two at centre back and Mustoe and Ince in front of them. Not a bad spine to the team!
Was it not Crossley? I'm sure we went on a great defensive run when Crossley was in goal for us.

Definitely Schwarzer for the record (7 clean sheets in a row) but looks like Ince and Mustoe had left and Ehiogu was injured!

Funny how the memory plays tricks.

Think we'd done 3 in a row a couple of times with Ince, Ehiogu and Mustoe. Might've been Crossley for one of those.

To echo an earlier thread: James Morrison. The guy we let go for a pittance, who then was brilliant for West Brom for years and years in the Prem while we played wing backs in midfield because we had no decent centre midfielders.

My mate is a Blackburn fan and he always says Tugay is probably the best player that has played for them but doesn't get the recognition he deserves and probably because he only came to England when he was 30.

This question really has to be someone like that, similar to Boateng, that other fans wouldn't even consider.

Most of the best players will have played for one of the top teams or played champions league football for a good chunk of their career. I do wonder why players like Southgate, Boateng and Viduka didn't play regular top level football because they seemed to me like they were good enough. Even Juninho, who is one of the best players a lot of us have ever seen, only played in the champions league when he left us to play for Celtic.

Tugay was absolutely class 👍🏻👍🏻

Chris Riggott.

I really rated him just lacked a little bit of pace and luck with injuries that stopped him playing at an even higher level. Getting outpaced by a 50 year old Kanu from the halfway line was interesting mind.

Yeah I think that's right. Players at the big clubs will nearly always get noticed due to the coverage and the fact pundits know about them so big them up more. Hard to be underrated if you're playing well for Man United.

Tugay is a great shout. Think Carbone is mentioned earlier on the thread too.

Been some fantastic players at lesser clubs over the years.

I'm not sure Gareth Southgate got the full recognition along with Ugo,they could easily have played as a partnership for a top 4 team,we were very lucky to have them.
I have a Villa season ticket holding mate, he certainly didn't underate them, he still moaned about us nicking them off Villa years after they finished playing.

Got to agree about George Boateng, he'd have been first name on the team sheet if I was Boro manager, at least a solid 7 every game. I don't think Kevin Phillips got the credit he deserved, I think Boro missed a trick not going in for him when he left Sunderland.

I think we were in for him but he chose Southampton over us.
