Mowatt, Mcnair, Mcgree

Second half we were better, but still awful. Cardiff were 3 up so sat back, defended deep and said "come on then", which apart from that mad 5 mins (2 goals and Muniz blasting high and wide) we had nothing.

The MF is the cause of 90% of our problems - too slow, no creativity, not helping the defence, not really supporting the attack. Certainly not chipping in with goals. Fannied about all summer with our recruitment and ultimately neglected probably THE most critical area on the pitch.

That shape/system isn't working and that MF 3 certainly isn't. Sad thing is, we have ONE option to change things before Rotherham, a recently signed short term player. That's it. 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️.

Looking like a long old season. ☹️

We love playing side to side, back and forth passes and barely gaining any ground.

It goes like this… back to Fry to McNair to Fry to Clarke to Fry to crooks back to Fry and repeat before hoofing it up and losing the ball.

I think we would need to change formation to get the best out of McGree since clearly he doesn’t fit into a 3 5 2.. I’d give 4 4 2 a go but doubt Wilder would do it.
I think we’ll need to change formation to get the best out of the players we have full stop!
FOUR FOUR TWO!! the fans shout when things aren’t going well..

We were left three first team players down from the recruitment side of things.. according to wilder and seems to have fcuked off a few of our players already.

With Luongo coming in and Stephens training with us, I can see us switching to a double 6 forrmation, at first I was thinking 4-2-3-1 but after a bit of a sleep and the tin foil hat firmly back on my head I’ve come to the conclusion Wilder is treading water for a prem job and preparing the squad for the arrival of Sean Dyche.

Four four two with a double 6.

I thought McGree was one of the few positives tonight. He's an intelligent with an eye for a pass. Not sure we need both him and Mowatt in the team though as they perform similar roles and neither are great without the ball.

Expect Luongo will come in soon which will tighten things up in the middle.

McNair was exposed a lot tonight. Doesn't help having Jones in front of him whose positional play without the ball is poor. If we're going to play the wing backs high up we need wife centre halves who are better defenders than McNair imo (or ones who hold the ball and contribute more to attacks)
Well mate, i did my best last night to sell the Boro to my wife.
She's a six footer and I told her that the Boro is only interested in signing loans, freebies and long term projects.
I told her that she would make her annual salary within a fortnight.

She seemed interested for a moment or two and said " but I'm 66 and I can't kick or head a ball "
Exactly, I said, you'd fit in perfectly, they can't either but you've got something that they haven't got.
You have more aggression, determination, passion, and will to win in your big toe than the lot of them together and you would be proud to play in the red and white
of your husbands team unlike those fannies. The fans will adore you. They will probably make you captain within a week and offer a ridiculous long term contract.

Alas, like all our other so called and prayed for targets, she declined.

She said that she would never play for a team that wouldn't put in the same effort that she would be willing to do.
Being a long time Boro fan for nearly sixty years, there was no way that I could guarantee that.
So another target goes by the wayside, but guys, I tried, I really really tried.

We can't give up hope tho lads, maybe there is a wife out there ready and willing. Maybe we should start the search with a new thread?
