Rob, I put myself up for elections and do have thick skin, I have no idea who Alexander is, I don't think he knows me, if he does, he wouldn't think what he is saying. But all's fair in love and war.

Ok. It's up to other candidates to get more votes than him then if people want him gone?

Mayors are old fashioned in my opinion anyways. I wouldn't even know if my neck of the woods has one. 😂

I said this as he attempted to bully me, calling me a crook, I've posted my upto date DBS, proving I don't have a criminal record, so I think I am entitled to say he is a bully.
 
If he wins again ,,,then what ? , does that make people stupid ? or maybe he strikes a chord & people are ok with him outside of political leanings .

Interesting times ahead ?

Look mate, I am not suggesting for one moment that you are a 'crook" but producing an up to date DBS shows you do not have a criminal record. It could also mean you just have not been caught
But it has been stated many times on here that Ben Houchen and Andy Preston have they hands in many pots shall we say. Now i don't know either of them, but if I had apparent proof that they were up to something I would be informing the authorities.and not posting on an internet message board.
I believe both are Boro fans so it is entirely feasible that they could look on here.
What if , like yourself is entitled to do, they decide to call out the comments and bring in the legal teams?
Rob, or whoever controls these forums could quite easily be required to release known details of those who make their public comments.
So like i have posted, I have seen Rob challenge only 1 side of the spectrum. It could be in his own interests to challenge all.

It's an interesting question, one I have pondered for a little while.

So many possibilities.

He could win and find himself with a majority Labour held Town hall. He can still control the council as the rules state that after disagreements the council require 2/3rds majority to overrule the elected mayor- Councillors will then have to decide if government commissionaires would be more palpable.

He could win with enough Tories and Independents to carry on as normal, the last 4 years with this circumstances have left the council on the brink of bankruptcy and having government commissionaires taking over.

Or we could just boot him out and start to look at rescuing the mess we are in, this will take time and may also mean commissionaires are brought in.

Be in no doubt, our council is in a total mess and it will require skill and hard work to get out of it.

It's been 4 long years.

Well, I could be a mass murderer. Fact is I have been called a crook by someone who should and does know better, I challenge robustly, he doesn't like it- he accuses me of being a crook; maybe I am getting too close?

It is sadly a shambles, it's why we are desperate to have a change of direction, we can't have more of the same, it could well spell armageddon for our town.

It is, and it does, but it was ever thus. The town throughout its history has had leaders feathering their own nest. But a few of them since day dot have improved the town alongside their bank balances. At least Preston is one of them, hence he’ll win another term, the Labour naysayers only have themselves to blame for generations of neglecting their safe seats of power. Suddenly they aren’t safe any more and they start shouting about what they’d do if they won. Bit late for that chaps.
