My Boro Debut

Boro vs wolves. 0-0 think it was either October/nov 1991. There was a band playing. I was in the north east corner

boro 1-1 palace 1984/85 mills.
My brother took me for my 9th birthday and I remember it being bloody freezing

Middlesbrough 2-1 Aston Villa 14th Feb 1988.. what a first game and what a winner from Mowbray! 😍
I think that was the first live league game broadcast outside division 1 at the time?

I remember the commentator, may have been Barry Gubba saying something like - Middlesbrough, a real flat caps and Bovril type of club.

April 1969: Boro v Bury...lost 2-3.
Served to temper my expectations but totally hooked from the get-go and why wouldn't I have been?
Madden, Laidlaw, King John etc.
UTFB

I don't remember the game, though first Boro memory was / seemed to be from the back of the east stand v a team in green shirts.. possibly late 60's early 70's ..TBH I never & still don't bother about who we play, it's just about watching Boro..

In my mind mine it was Boro 4 Notts County 0 with my second match being the 8-0 win over Sheff Wed. However, my dad tells me he took me to other matches earlier that season and i'm not sure who's memory is correct. Surely it must be mine.

Boro 4 Darlington 0 27th December 1967. Couldn't believe how green the pitch was. Football had been in black and white up until then!

I think they said something like that about Mowbray, or him looking like he was off a 1950s football card.

Boro 3-2 Aston Villa.

27th Dec 1976.

Mills Hattrick - not that I can remember the goals or anything. Only the sights and sounds. The typical how green the grass was.

Boro v Portsmouth 10th Oct 1970 won 3-2
As a couple of others on here have mentioned, my abiding memory is of how huge and vividly green the pitch looked, having only ever seen football before on a small black and white TV
