Couldn't make the game yesterday so asking those that did.

Was he any good? Obviously he nearly got his big money move a little while ago but didn't work out. He's always talked about as having a lot of talent but is stuck with a pretty poor Championship team.

Given his connections to the club I often wonder if he would come back if he had the chance. What's people's thoughts?

I've never been impressed by him when we've played Swansea, and I wasn't yesterday either.

He gets great reviews though, so it might just be a case of struggling against his old club.

Nothing in yesterday's performance suggested he was better than what we have at the club already.

I think the club he was linked with was Southampton when they were in the PL?
While we all accept our scouts misevaluate players all the time, I think we're quick to assume other clubs scouts always get it right. For a PL club, I'd say Wood was a bullet dodged.

He did ok. Brings the ball out of defence well. Looks comfortable on the ball when in possession. Didn't really have any major defending to do.

He’s a seriously big unit now for a 21 year old!

I didn’t think he looked anything special yesterday, but he’s still very young and I do wish he was on our books and not Swansea’s

Looks good when its in front of him but suspect when its behind and he gets turned IMO. Looks like perfect centre back in terms of build and technique but still has alot to learn.

Made a couple of barlaser type fook ups when dawdling on the ball at the back, looked nothing special, not in the same bracket as RVDB

Thought he was poor. Never really rated him though so I’m not that surprised.

Wish him well but not bothered about re signing him. Wouldn’t be surprised if we did at some point though.

No tears shed over his departure from what I've seen of him. He may develop, he may not.

He didn't look as good as either of our centre backs yesterday, never mind Lenihan and RvdB.

The first goal was scored in an area he should be dominating, instead Latte Lath had time to move the ball and find the net.

He is good on the ball (although he made mistakes and got caught a few times yesterday).

Their defence is terrible with him in it... we barely tried to attack yesterday, but almost always got a shot in when we did.

But VDB has been part of a terrible defence for us all season and we rate him... our defence has massively improved with him injured, but I think that is coincidence rather than cause...

That's the sort of thing a professional coach/scout needs to pick apart - some players have great individual skill/ability but struggle to improve a team.

On the subject of former defenders, we will get Ben Gibson back in the summer when his contract expires, it's written in the stars 😂.

I thought he was the better of their two CBs. Not outstanding but a competent Championship CB. Made a couple of mistakes but so did both Clarke and Howson for us.

He did okay yesterday but was not overly impressive. Got caught a couple of times on the ball by Lath, who was a nuisance all day to their back four.

You would have thought that when we sold him on the cheap to Swansea for £460k we would have put in a buy back option / 1st refusal of double at £920k . If we were clever enough to do that I would snap their hands off .
