National league north playoff final

Brackley vs Kidderminister.

It's the problem with regional split leagues. You've got to balance it somewhere and often teams end in in the wrong region depending on who is relegated / promoted. Not much you can do about that.

3 out of the four teams relegated from the National League are too far south to enter NLN so dont know whats going to happen there

They will do what they always do.....look at the teams relegated from the National League, the teams currently in NL North and NL South plus the 6 teams coming up from Northern Premier League, Isthmian League and Southern League and redraw the boundaries. Those NL North / NL South sides just north of London must swap leagues regularly!

Not the league’s fault that southern football is stronger than northern football, been that way for about 20 years.

So that's now the majority of National League North sides from outside of the north.

It's not really much of an issue with some of the Midlands clubs, but it does seem pointless regionalising the leagues when the longest serving member of the National League North is from Gloucester.

I agree, it’s a bit of a shock to see some teams drop like they do but I suppose that’s the natural order of football.
Since the pyramid was formed, definitely. I'd still prefer teams to have the option of not going up if they win their respective leagues, some just can't manage the increased travel costs whilst maintaining a capable side.

Yes football finances are a real rabbit hole, some teams get lucky and pull it out of thin air but others spend too much and go bust.

the league get "rebalanced" every year (if necessary) so the most northerly teams (or team more north than those relegated into NLS) get shunted into NLN. that's why the map clusters above look like they do, with no overlap.

Oxford ctiy probably would have been in that boat, but they won the NLS playoff, so will be another club or two who get that pleasure and some very long away trips.

Especially when the finances of the club are never re-invested back into the Club and are used for personal gain by local businessmen.

Having said that, I look forward to a few local away games for Scunthorpe next season.

That's certainly not true further down the pyramid. There's nothing to take out.

In the old split third division days, they used to move the likes of Coventry and Mansfield about. Now it’s Bishops Stortford. A sign of how northern football has declined and the balance shifted.
The south has the majority of the population, and the majority of the clubs.

It's good to see a northern side at Wembley again for the FA Trophy. Unfortunately not one in the FA Vase but we've had our fair share of success in that and the Amateur Cup which preceded both. Not bad for an area as small as ours.
