Nothing to be scared of. Iran, all mouth no bite. Constantly threatened Israel for decades, never done anything. Promise you if this woman was a yank she would have been freed and back home by now.
 
Yup when I go spying I take my daughter too.

My thought would be pay our debt and if they don't release her then we steal her back.
They have to show cause for holding her or we retaliate.
 
Poor woman, another week of torment and no doubt she will receive another prison sentence until we pay up the money we owe Iran, and this will go on and on. Same ignorant attitude we are showing in not adhering to the Brexit trade deal, this govt thinks it is above the law.

Does anybody really believe that Boris Johnson as the then Foreign Secretary and now Prime Minister has done 'everything humanly possible' to secure her release?

It was his clusterfuck of a mistake when giving evidence to the Foreign Affairs Committee back in 2017 that simply hardened Iran's belief that this poor lady was indeed a spy.

He nor Raab have done anything since to put pressure on Iran to release her. The Government could pay back Iran the £400m we owe them as a legitimate debt but we are so **** scared of contravening US sanctions that we dare not do it.

It was this promise by Johnson, since broken, that has impacted this poor lady far more than his gaff about her journalism.

No shame, no accountability, no competence.
 
There are hostages from the USA, France, Germany, Austria, Sweden and UK currently being held by Iran, it's a foreign policy tool to them. The most likely way Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe is going to be released is if the pressure being put on by Joe Biden/USA has an effect, they are offering Iran talks on returning to the 2015 nuclear accord and the lifting of sanctions but are stipulating a release of Western hostages as a condition for anything happening.
 
Can't see her being released even in a year unless the UK government agree to pay back some of the money owed.
 
Not sure the Iranian government are worth negotiating with. What are their views on homosexuality? Diplomacy will not work, and unfortunately in this case, as with other western citizens, they have the upper hand.
