Need to look at our defence, thats the problem, not a lack of striker

They created next to nothing.
Keeper error for their first,
Ludicrous deflection for the second

Rav blocked one right at the end. That was it

Over the course of the season, how many times have we kept a clean sheet? Lack of striker is a recent thing , defensive frailties a long term problem. At least Azaz scored.

lack of striker is definitely an issue, but we don't help ourselves in the latest window where we were a striker short already we actually sold 2 strikers ( and Rogers as well who could play striker) and brought none in its crazy

It’s a combination of both. Goals change games and can affect the opposition mentally, just look at the way Preston crumbled and lost 4-0 to us at home.

The longer the game went at 0-0, the more you risk a goal against the run of play.

We aren’t set up like a Karanka team which will grind out regular 1-0 wins. We are always going to be more open but the way we gift sides goals with poor passing and bad decisions has became infuriating.

To play the way we play " high risk high reward" .. to be successful, you NEED certain attributes that we're lacking.

We're a soft touch on any type of counter because we don't have the athleticism / pace to recover.
We lack a level of aggression or physicality middle of the park / on both flanks.

A team without bite gives the opposition the confidence to play higher and leave gaps which they know we'll struggle to exploit before they get back and regroup. That increases game time in our half and exposes our defence to more pressure and you know they'll crack eventually.

Opposition teams will be happy to cede possession to us in the centre of midfield as we move it out wide slowly, lose possession and then they can move it down the wing just as our team have ambled forwards, put it back in the centre and run at our centre backs to get a shot off just as they get into the box.

Agree all over this.
Easy to blame the defenders ( who also are a bit fannyish / standing off when pressing edge of the box )
But , the flat footedness / like of bite in front of them is a bigger issue IMHO.

Fannyish , is how it is .
Barry Robson , Leadbitter, Clayton, Sounness , Cattermole , Doriva , Emerson , mustoe to name a few were not fannyish .
Thinking about it , neither was Morsy .
