Netflix Hacking Warning

It might be time for anyone with Netflix to make their password stronger. I got an email this morning saying there was a login to my account from Georgia, USA and it gave me a link to change my password.

Clicking the link I've discovered my email address for login and my phone number for verification have been removed by the hacker. and due to Corona, Netflix support staff working from home with a massive backlog so it's virtually impossible to get through to support at the moment. I looked at a forum and there has been hundreds of examples of this in the last few days. So someone else has my account at the moment and more worryingly my credit card details.

Update your passwords folks!!

OP I’d edit youR title to make it stand out more To *****NETLFIX HACK WARNING ***

as it just looks like you are recommending a new series stranger things etc

All fixed. Online Live Support opened at 3pm. The guy checked and my account was actually being used in America. He logged every device off. Gave me my password back, I chose a stronger password and it's all back to normal again.

Had the same thing happen to me last week. Signed up on Tuesday night and by 5am Thursday someone in Georgia had access to it. Called Netflix at 10am and in less that 10 mins it was all sorted. Great service when they must be under increased pressure.

When I saw that I thought uh-oh, NOW they have your password! Just a warning to people, just because you get an email, from anywhere not just Netflix, saying your account has been breached it doesnt neccesarily mean your account has been breached. If you then blindly click on the link then there is every chance you are going to give away your current password. A lot of these are malicious fake sites that ask for your current password first then ask you to change it. They then have your current password.

I am glad it was legit this time ReidyDog and I am not suggesting you didnt check it thoroughly first. Just a friendly warning for others.

I've been working in Systems Administration for 40 years. NEVER click on a link in an email, however legit it appears. The same goes for incoming phone calls. Always use your normal login or use a different phone to call the number you know.

Happened to me before and at that time I had only 1 device watching at a time. Turned out it was someone in Honduras and he just left it on one thing so I couldn't watch anything. I got netflix to kick him out and changed password etc.
