Network North- Covering the UK..

Hmm I love argument. I love debate. I don't expect anyone just to sit there and agree with me - that's not their job.
Not really sure any point I have made it debatable at this point. As a green party voter I would have thought you would have agreed! The Green party are pretty vociferous regarding the waste of public finances and the enriching of Tory donors by the Tory party.

Come on guys that's very one sided.. .
Here's the rest of the story 👍

PM redirects HS2 funding to revolutionise transport across the North and Midlands

Communities in towns, cities and rural areas will see improved transport infrastructure far sooner through £19.8 billion reinvested in the North, including:

  • £2 billion for a new station at Bradford and a new connection to Manchester;
  • £2.5 billion to deliver a new mass transit system in West Yorkshire;
  • £3 billion for upgraded and electrified lines between Manchester and Sheffield, Sheffield and Leeds, Sheffield and Hull, and Hull-Leeds.
  • Nearly £4 billion more funding for local transport in the North’s six city regions.
  • A new £2.5 billion fund for local transport across all areas in the North outside the six city regions – smaller cities, counties, towns and countryside.
  • A new £3.3 billion fund for road resurfacing.
  • Landmark investments in roads, reopened train lines and new stations;

*subject to business case.

This money does not exist, HS2 to Manchester was going to cover 12 years staring in 2023 (~£100 billion). The budget for this has not been spent, it was provisional. What has been spent is going to be swallowed then some by paying for services rendered, cancelling contracts and any remediation work, with land bought sold on the cheap.

They also still need to cover the inflation to the remaining HS2 budget, where is this money being allocated from?

It's pure Tory Gaslighting.

And the DfT has deleted the tweet.

All looks good on paper, but they publish something like this prior to every election then once they have the votes money starts getting cut from the budget because ... reasons and more often than not them cuts come from the north.

The Tories have done b***r all on infrastructure in 14 years, and if their record with the economy over that time is any indication of how they will run projects on this scale I would rather they let the adults in the room manage it.
Who would you deem to be the 'adults'?

Sunak has been heard bragging about how he would take money from the poorer areas and give to the richer areas. You are right, there is no magic money tree. That is why he is taking it from the north to give to the south .
