Morrissey has turned in to a proper t*t as he's got older but I still adore The Smiths and his first few solo albums. I downloaded Johnny Marr's book recently but I haven't got around to reading it yet.Like a few of his / their records but love this song & mainly because the guitar that is played throughout the song, makes the song for me
I woukd hedge a bet a lot more posters will like this than not do

I never understood why so many people thought that The Smiths were miserable and depressing. Some of Morrissey's lyrics were hilarious. I never got to see them live unfortunately. But I did see Morrissey once at The Brangwyn Hall in Swansea and that was a fantastic gig.Johnny Marr created such beautiful riffs and sounds, which were the perfect compliment to Morrissey's unique and compelling lyrics. Morrissey - before he went to the bad - was a wonderfully original lyricist. His readiness to use humour was much misunderstood but was actually a great strength. They were a truly great band and Marr remains a top bloke.
One of those bands that change your life and outlook when you're young. Certainly did me.I never understood why so many people thought that The Smiths were miserable and depressing. They sound pretty good on the first three quarters or so of the 'Rank' live album before Morrissey murders the last couple of songs and that fairly early gig from the Hacienda that's on Youtube sounded pretty good too. Maybe you just had bad luck. All bands have off days. One of those bands that change your life and outlook when you're young. Certainly did me.
But they were generally rubbish live the few times I saw them. Hey ho
I only saw the Smiths 30 or so times and not once were they rubbish. Suppose I must have been lucky then, or Ebor very unlucky...One of those bands that change your life and outlook when you're young. Certainly did me.
