got a few mates from Cov coming up the last day of the season who will be staying in Newcastle the night before the match for a bit of a night out. Can anyone reccommend the best way to get to Boro from up there on the day of the match, I know there is a direct train but it takes 1 hour 20, any one got an idea of how much a cab might cost. any info much appreciated

Obviously is because of the ECML, but it’s mad that it takes so long from Middlesbrough but only half an hour from darlo, 40 minutes from Northallerton or an hour from York (which is twice the distance away).

The direct train takes in some of the most beautiful parts of the north east.
It follows an s shaped route. One reason why it takes so long.
Boro taxis are always doing Newcastle airport runs.
Perhaps they could do a pick up of your mates on the return?

£5.90 on the train just got off one its all the stops from Hartlepool to Boro that c0ck the job up seaton carew, billingham, stockton then Thornaby then finally Boro

1hour 20 shouldn't be an issue ?
Sell out though , last home match , it will be lively to say the least in the bars in Boro , if they are decent lads and don't give it large , they will get away with leaving skunk land / new camel , around 11am getting to Boro for 12.30 .

Megabus goes from Newcastle on May 8th at 09:30 and arrives in Boro at 10:40. Costs £5.33 per person.

Take the scenic route on the coast train and see the delights of seaham easington and peterlee real billy elliot country, towns time forgot

Quite often get a taxi back from Cluny if there is four of us, Cost about £70 to £75 not bad if four sharing. Cheaper than staying over.

But even that will take up to an hour depending on traffic and road works so train is your best option for me.

Recently got a taxi back from Newcastle when I missed the train on a night out. It cost me £90 from the train station.

Never get a taxi from Newcastle train station(or Darlo for that matter) if you can help it(probably no other option in your case). Book it from Boro to pick you up if you know you are getting a taxi as it cheaper.

Pedalo down the coast from quayside to right outside the North Stand. It’ll take ages and there’s a chance they’ll end up in Norway or Denmark but, what fun!
