Next season

Build the team around Tav and Fry. Make sure we keep them. Play Morsy in the middle with McNair. Have Howson as an ideal player to step in due to injuries, suspensions, rotation etc.

Sign a proper goalie and some strikers capable of being physical and getting there fair share of goals.

Not fussed on signing NML or Bolasie. Would be happy with Kebano but can’t see that happening.

Make sure Watmore is a permanent fixture in the team and hopefully Dijksteel can have an injury free season as he is by far our best right back and Bola is equally as good on the left.

Then it’s just about filling in the gaps in wide areas with some loan deals and permanent signings.

Confident we can have a real go next season and I credit Warnock for what he’s done this season with this bunch of players. He is the man for the job.

What makes you confident Block?
Our football is awful and you are delusional if you think otherwise.

Deluded is a bit strong, I’m confident because we are 9th with a real average set of players in certain positions. If we get the right players in key positions there is no reason we can’t be up there challenging. The football is awful in this division full stop, it’s about results. With fans there I think that will improve and the fans could play a big part in us being up there.

I don't think it will be difficult to replace Bettinelli, even on the cheap, I did fear that his recent decent form would convince Warnock to offer him a contract but hopefully today is the end of that.

The strikers will be the main challenge.

Yep, real challenge. I hope we don’t find another Akpom.

Would be happy with Kebano, Watmore and a new striker. Kebano as a winger and Watmore as wide forward.
I prefer Watmore playing in a front two as a poacher. Think he should only be really used if we're setting up 4-4-2.

Why do you think McNair is the answer to the midfield when he’s always looked better In defence?

Been impressed with him in midfield when he’s played there recently and think he’s cost us a few goals at the back. Fry is the reason he’s looked good at the back, every time Fry isn’t there McNair looks all at sea. I think he’s got it in him to compliment Morsy and Tav in there with his power and be a good box to box player for us.

Yeah he is good playing with a target man. Struggled today in all honesty but any one would really with the supply he received. Love his eye for a goal though, really good instinctive player.
I think he can play wide left in a front 3 but i see your point 👍

As I have said on the other keeper thread , this is Warnocks team
Betinelli , Hall ,Fischer, Morsy , Watmore , Bolasie , Kebano , Mendez Laing ,Akpom
Are all Warnock signings , add Archer , that's 10 Players , 9 started yesterday .
Only Morsy ,Watmore and Kebano come out with any credit for me .
His team let him and his assistants down yesterday by not turning up , and he must take the blame for building this group .
No target man , and no leaders in 10 signings ?

I will also add , the keeper situation is baffling
Betinelli has performed poorly on numerous occasions , but his back up , Archer is not trusted enough to replace him ?
Why sign him then ?

Yeah there is nothing wrong with Grant Hall. Although Warnock keeps saying he wasn’t his signing really.

Its not about blame.

Its a patched up "make do and mend" squad with

* the two highest cost / paid earners on a wind - down to the exit.
* a core of experienced players with proven ability.
* a couple of competent internationals.
* an old stager
* temporary loanees
* kids with unfulfilled "potential".

I doubt any of Karanka / Monk / Pulis / Woodgate / Agnew, could get a consistent "tune" out of Rag, Tag and Bobtail.

Looking forward: its time for young players to grasp the nettle and take any chances they get - like Coburn and Jones. Prove their worth in the reserves as well as the first team squad. Work hard and prove they deserve their wages at Boro. Others may wish to listen to good advice and move on - isnt that what agents are for? Clear out the clutter and decide what goes where in the new set - up.
