Yeah. A few folks saying it was definitely a red. Oops!Oh.
So all of us who questioned it and said it was never a red may have had a point then, and weren’t simply Boro haters hoping that we’d lose expressing anger that we’d won?
Hmm.
Interesting.
Would VAR have overturned as a clear and obvious error, given the ref was about 5 yards away? I'm not so sure it would have. This is why VAR should be in the championship. It's probably not going to make a huge difference to our season and Norwich still have themselves to blame for capitulating but it's still something that completely turned the game on its head and it shouldn't have done.
I'm assuming that the process involved with overturning the decision is the same as a VAR one. I would say yes because it's not really a subjective decision. He's either acted violently or he hasn't and there was no indication from any of the angles on the replays that he had.Would VAR have overturned as a clear and obvious error, given the ref was about 5 yards away? Surely the conversation between the VAR and the ref would have made the ref overturn it?I'm assuming that the process involved with overturning the decision is the same as a VAR one. VAR overturns things all the time when the referee has got something wrong. They are supposed to act as a team. I don't think admitting that he thought he saw a kick and the VAR team telling him there wasn't one is anything to be ashamed about. Referees make mistakes and they don't always have the best view. It makes perfect sense to use the technology to improve decision making. I think it would be more embarrassing to claim you were right about something when the replays show you weren't. I don't think yellow is an option as it's a yes/no decision.Surely the conversation between the VAR and the ref would have made the ref overturn it?
I imagine it might have been downgraded to a yellow to spare the ref's blushes slightly.
