Not feeling the Coronation at all…

I suspect people will have their way and a republic of GB be formed with a popular elected President.
Why would we need a president? I'm not even convinced that we need a second chamber in Parliament. The elected Parliament is sovereign and that's the way it should be. I don't like what the current government do/have done, but I am glad they get to enact their programme, as they were elected to do. Biden, on the other hand is hamstrung by the separation of powers, just as Obama was.

Plus, the idea of a president is intrinsically a nod to the idea of a ruler. a leviathan, a superior being. That's what we want to get away from! We need to have confidence that we are grown up enough to rule ourselves without elevating or genuflecting to anyone.

If you only have one house and no other authority, then the majority in that house could keep themselves in power ad infinitum. There needs to be a circuit breaker and a President with properly defined powers can be that breaker.

We have seen under this government that our so-called constitution isn't worth the paper it isn't written, on as they successfully and unlawfully prorogued Parliament because of the lies of the corrupt filth, Johnson and the ineffectiveness/collusion of the crown.

Agreed, we need a written constitution, but once that is in place one would hope and expect that things like prorogation would be forever unlawful.

True, but of course for a monarch to refuse to really would be to sign their own death warrant (figuratively).
You say that but we know that approx 1,200 were fiddled with before royal consent was provided.

Like any other powerful individual there will be bargaining and favours going on to allow royal consent. The thing is MPs cannot stand in public and slate the royals anyway, so it wouldn’t be a death warrant. There is a huge assumption that they don’t get involved in writing or rewriting bills, but it’s been found that they have.
