It is absolutely not hoof ball. The thread title is disingenuou. the Blades were one of the most attractive sides in the Championship when they went up a few years ago. Indeed they did that when they had the best defence in the League - they were 4th highest scorers.

McNair would be one of the overlapping centre backs. I would assume Dael/Hall/Bamba when fit would be the sweeper then who as the other overlapping CB? Howson/Dijksteel? Jones/Bola LWB. Tavernier/??? RWB.

Think we need a left sided centre back before we go down that route. Bola could probably do it but then you would have to play Jones or Hernandez wing back and I’m not sure that suits them. I think Wilder may go with 4 at the back to begin with and maybe go another way when he gets players in to suit his style. All speculation of course.
