Old footballers looked a lot older didn’t they.

When you see the astonishing changes colour made for They Shall Not Grow Old by Sir Peter Robert Jackson, it does reveal the difference tones and colours make to people from historical cinema and picture archives.

This is the one that gets me. I am currently older than all of them bar Roy Orbison..

Its actually the North Stand that they are near, outside the main gates.
There is an arrow pointing to the West End, aka Holgate End above their heads.
I actually didn't check the image, assumed it was the main entrance in Warwick Street and forgot the 'ground got rotated' when we moved to the Riverside. 🤦‍♂️

Looking at it now, is it even Warwick Street? When were the gates put up?

I started going in 1961 and they were there then.
There must have been gates for years before that as otherwise anybody could get into the ground at any time.

The photo in the OP reminded me of this one.

I have always loved this photo showing Boro WAG's 1967-68 style in all their finesse. It was given to me by Dickie Rooks.

The Crossan's look like they have been photoshopped into the group. Their hair and clothing were new and hip, whilst everyone else (with the exception of the lady on the left with her fur coat) is is wearing hair and clothing from the early 1960's. Even the younger ladies have a 'Mumsy' look about them.

Johnny Crossan (looking very much like Stan Anderson) looks more like a fashion model (as was his team mate around this time, John O Rourke), while all the other chaps appear to have gone for the owld Dad style 'big coat'.

Incidentally, the only one of the chaps that I have never identified is the lad partially hidden, standing behind the Doc; does anyone recognise him?

This link is to an interview and photograph of Johnny Crossan from 4 and a half years ago on the occasion of his 80th birthday:

The Crossans had brought their clothes over from Manchester, the local lads bought theirs at Manchester House.
