Our next manager

With David Moyes’ inevitable sacking, either now or at the end of the season, Carrick is going to be in demand. There’s talk of Palace being interested in him too.

When he does leave, who will we go for? Would Gibson give it to Woodgate again?

I don't see any Premier League club coming in for Carrick at the moment, which is the one silver lining of our poor form.

If you were going to poach a manager from the Championship, there are many outperforming him right now.

There were many outperforming Graham potter too when he went to Brighton.
Southampton went for Russell Martin over say the superb Mark Robins. I think style is more important than results at the minute.

No danger of him being lured away. Needs to prove himself at boro and i dont think hes done that hes been ok but thats about it so far

Championship managers that are doing well don't seem to get poached by PL teams very often. Teams that need saving want someone that has PL experience. The few managers that do go from championship to PL are usually one that have a bit of a reputation because they have to sell it to the fans as much as themselves. Carrick does have a PL reputation because of his playing career that others don't so him not doing as well as someone else like Robins, McKenna or Corberan doesn't mean he wouldn't have interest.

West Ham will be thinking about the next De Zerbi, so doubt Carrick is seriously being considered.

I don't think there's anything particularly impressive about our style at the moment.

We were roundly criticised in the media for our suicidal approach to the second leg of the Chelsea game, which I'm sure Premier League clubs will have noticed, and we're barely scoring or keeping clean sheets.

Swansea were one of the most attractive footballing teams in the Championship under both Potter and Martin, even when results weren't brilliant.

We definitely were last season, but I don't think any neutral would be watching us with envy this season, and that's not just based on results.

I certainly have never found swanseas football particularly inspiring. Not since Brendon Rogers was manager. Certainly under Martin it just seemed that they were holding the ball for no reason other than stopping the opposition getting at their defence.
But you may be right in the sense that football has a very short memory and that people will remember us getting mullered by Chelsea rather than beating them 1 nil a couple of weeks ago.

Even that win was being reported as "Middlesbrough defended relatively well but Chelsea should have scored 3 and bad finishing cost them".

To answer the opening posts and raise a debate for me there's a couple that I am personally interested in, if Carrick for some reason was to leave.

I like Mckenna at Ipswich
Robins at Coventry
Rosenior at Hull
Wildcard Rohl at Sheff Wed interests me.

Then there is Potter and Cooper who both may feel out of reach but could we tempt them if they are out of work?

I think if Palace or West Ham wants a young Championship manager, then McKenna (Ipswich) Robins (Coventry) Martin (Southampton) are better options than Carrick.

Martin will probably be in the Premier League with Southampton, and Mark Robins is 54.

It's only Carrick's playing career that makes him more prominent at the moment.
He's a fairly big name, and known by many in the media, so he gets brought up more.

I do think they'll look elsewhere first, as it stands, unless we improve significantly in this last quarter of the season or they lay the blame for this season's results at our recruitment rather than his management (which I would).
