Our next manager

Even that win was being reported as "Middlesbrough defended relatively well but Chelsea should have scored 3 and bad finishing cost them".
Of course. We are playing a billion pound premier league team. Everyone would expect them to miss chances. And the narrative of the times is Chelsea miss chances.

We have a name in charge of the club. The football he plays or even attempts to play is the type which premier league clubs are looking to play. There will be interest.

Managers like Carrick, Rosenior and Martin are in. Taking a bankrupt club from div 1 to the play off final? Who cares. Winning a European trophy? not important.

Playing possession football. Playing short passing football. Important.

Personally I think west hams owners will not go for Carrick. They seem less interested in chasing trends than others.

Carrick's not achieved anything yet to have an established PL team interested in him.
Once he's got Barlaser in the England squad then I agree he might be in demand.

When this comes up everyone forgets Carrick has another life which doesnt involve footy stuff. Family life and father to two teenage kids. He has a lovely estate in Macclesfield somewhere with recent plans for extending and stables etc. and I can't see that it takes him more than 2.25 hours by car to Rockliffe when he needs to commute. No doubt he stays local in places when needed but he has a number of business inputs in Newcastle (with extended family) and family scenarios too. For now , I just cant imagine he would love to live out of a hotel in East London and not see his kids most days and nights .

Carrick is a work in progress, i would like him to stay and learn his trade here, hopefully take us up and establish us there - maybe if he achieves that he could get a another job at a more high profile club, but now ? Nah, can’t see anyone wanting him at the moment

Carrick has a lot to learn before he lands a big job.

His tactical awareness has been found wanting too many times since his appointment at us.

I hope who ever we get next, he does not have to accept old Boro castoffs as back room staff. When will Gibson ever think out side of the box ?
Carrick brought in his back room staff how does Gibson get blamed.

Yes, Gibson is the chairman but he let's Bauser run the day to day business within the club.

The on field issues is down to the management and playing staff not the chairman, he employs them to sort that out and hopes they deliver just like the rest of us!

Carrick is a massive risk for clubs in the prem at this moment in time, I'm pretty sure he's going nowhere for the time being.
If he does then we deal with it like we always do.
Woodgate is a no from me.

Jeez, if Sheff Utd have taken a punt on an out of favour and largely unsuccessful Chris Wilder, then of course West Ham are going to be interested in Carrick, should they sack Moyes. They might even consider Lennie Lawrence at this point…..

To answer the opening posts and raise a debate for me there's a couple that I am personally interested in, if Carrick for some reason was to leave.

I like Mckenna at Ipswich
Robins at Coventry
Rosenior at Hull
Wildcard Rohl at Sheff Wed interests me.

Then there is Potter and Cooper who both may feel out of reach but could we tempt them if they are out of work?
Don't forget it would have to be a manager who is out of work.

With David Moyes’ inevitable sacking, either now or at the end of the season, Carrick is going to be in demand. There’s talk of Palace being interested in him too.

When he does leave, who will we go for? Would Gibson give it to Woodgate again?
Carrick isn’t going anywhere.

He’s doing well here but would be too much of a risk for a prem team.

Next manager?

George Friend in about 2030

Why would Rosenior leave us to join you, genuine question?

I said on Saturday that the only silver lining about our inevitable slide into midtable mediocrity this season is that Carrick becomes a less enviable target for Prem clubs. If we failed in the play offs after finishing 5th/6th I think he would get a chance with a Prem team. Don't think they will if he can only get the team to say 12th.

I would go for Rosenior at Hull, debateable if we could get him though given the clubs respective positions and apparent budgets/intentions
