Our Season Starts against Huddersfield

The point remains that some are remarkably complacent about losing 6 points in the first 2 games.

When we missed out last season we reflected on the poor start…..

Yeah, I don't see it that way either.

We've had two very poor performances in a row, and we'll be playing catch-up for a while even if it clicks on Saturday.

I never had any hopes or expectations of the top two anyway, with the way our transfer business has went, but we'll still need to better the results of 21 other teams to get in the play-offs and it'll be a minimum of two wins with dozens of results going our way elsewhere just to be back to square one in that hunt.

We've handicapped ourselves early on again.

I agree but its kind of not the point is it?

We are nowhere near ready and whatever they have been doing is responsible for that.… and it’s not the first time.
’Working hard behind the scenes’ ……..
is all very laudible but if it doesn’t get you where you need to be at the right time questions ought to be asked.

I dunno. Kind of is the point though isn't it?

Don't get me wrong, it's frustrating and we're certainly not perfect (releasing Bola without a replacement for example seems a bit dumb).

But none of us know what goes on behind the scenes in terms of getting deals done as quickly as possible. It's not just us is it? Every club will no doubt say they're nowhere near finished. Have their recruitment teams just been tossing it off too?

If you want transfers done quickly you either target less in demand players or pay over the odds I imagine. Not sure many want us to do that either.

Sometimes it is out of the clubs control. The way some go on as if it's as simple to get all your signings in by the start of July and it must just be Scott procrastinating as to why that's not happened is incredibly naive.

The bigger issue is the timing of the window closing. It allows selling clubs and agents to play brinkmanship to try and push up the fee/wages because they know buying clubs are keen to get players in. Close the window before the season starts and there'll be none of this.

Agree ref transfer window - it’s tough for all.
We are nowhere near ready tho and we’ll have to agree to disagree ref the extent of the club’s Accountability.
We have form on this.

I think we’re just going to have the same problems again on Saturday because the defence is just not good enough in the full back positions. This will not be an easy game and Warnock will have his players fired up - don’t be surprised if it’s another defeat. The side is a pale shadow of last season without Akpom Archer Ramsey and Giles - throw in Smith missing at right back and it’s very clear we have big problems both offensively and defensively. I don’t see us winning many games until both ends of the pitch are sorted.
