Over halfway now..

can we expect our goalscorers to double their tallies based on the number of games they’ve missed?

*Latte Lath 7
*Azaz 7
Jones 6
Crooks 5
Greenwood 5
*Forss 5
*McGree 5
Coburn 5
Silvera 4

Silvera is back and with McGree to follow

Latte Lath - Plymouth - 3 games away
Jones - Norwich - 5 games away

76 points needed on the table..
time to ramp up to 2ppg

could we squeeze in with 72? 1.8ppg

Season average is 1.4ppg

It looks like we’ve made the best moves statistically in the transfer window..

Last 12 games.. 52 points

*Latte Lath 14
*Azaz 14 (I expect less)
Jones 12 achievable
Crooks 10 defo will do it
Greenwood 10 he could do it
*Forss 10 capable of more
*McGree 10 could be more
Coburn 10
Silvera 8

Comparisons with past strikers/attacker:

*Latte Lath - Britt Assombalonga
*Azaz - Ashley Fletcher
Jones - Albert Adomah
Crooks - Matt Crooks
Greenwood - Adam Johnson
*Forss - Scott McDonald
*McGree - Duncan Watmore
Coburn - David Nugent
Silvera - Marvin Emnes

just in terms of goals scored.. our squad is packed with what would formerly be our top scorers.. all going at it in the same season.

we’ve got a decent spread there I think..
maybe missing a Patrick Bamford and a Chuba Akpom! Lol

Having seen Luton's success I think we might need to find a big, strong striker.
I am very impressed with Luton's adaptation to the Premier League.
Our players have really good technique, but their speed and strength is not perfect like Akpom.
Understandably, a player this good deserves a team bigger than us.
I hope Coburn has developed more speed. He already has a good brain.

You're suggesting 8 players will hit double figures when this is the first time we've had 8 players hit 5 goals in 120 years.

Don't forget that when all these players are fit they can't all play at the same time so minutes will be limited.

My guess is a maximum of 2 of them will hit double figures.

Those initial figures are total goals (league and cup) so based on 37 matches played. We only have 17 matches remaining or a maximum of 20 if we reach the playoff final. No chance they all double their tallies.

My guess would be Forss will finish top scorer with 10-12 goals and probably the only one to reach double figures. It's difficult to predict how many games each player will play.

I think (if he stays fit) Forss will end up top scorer this season.

He could realistically get another half dozen at least as I think he will be heavily relied upon - in whatever position is needed by the looks of it!

So he will hopefully have the opportunity to hit around 12/13 goals 🤞

Can you really develop speed?

Yes, sprinters aren't born running 9.6 seconds, they develop it through improving running technique and training the right muscles and muscle groups.

Every player does however have certain genetics around fast twitch muscles and their skeleton frame that can limit how quick they can ever run.

As far as Coburn goes, his size is a hinderance to sprinting repeatedly in a game, carrying that extra body mass isn't good, he doesn't strike me as being particularly high in fast twitch muscle fibres either, so I don't think he will ever be quick, but they can work on him being quicker.

I think it will be more than 2.. we have a very different mix as you’ve noted

Latte Lath double figures if fit
Jones double could be on..
Crooks he can drop a cheeky 10
Greenwood hmm.. not sure
Forss defo double figures
McGree has the capability
Coburn we create chances.. Coburn takes them

I get the minutes thing.. 17 games.. split those into two.. 90 minutes a game.. 45 x 17
765 minutes a piece..

Forss/Jones
Crooks/Azaz
McGree/Greenwood

Latte/Coburn

Latte, Forss & McGree can bring in double figures.

Latte = 4 goals 11 total
Azaz = 2 goals 9 total
Jones = 2 goals 8 total
Crooks = 2 goals 7 total
Greenwood = 2 goals 7 total
Forss = 6 goals 11 total
Mcgree = 5 goals 10 total

Coburn = 3 goals 8 total

Azaz.. not so sure.. Jones isn’t far away and Coburn could smash in a hatrick imo

a little more realistic perhaps.. best performing attack in 120 years?

His size.. Keiffer Moore/Andy Carroll.. can’t remember them being particularly fast.

Peter Crouch was skilful but looked awkward because of his size.

I think Coburn might start playing deeper as he gets a bit older. Can just see him running for days! That Akpom magic!

He won't ever the type to run for days, he gasses fairly quickly, I'm sure he's working on that and will improve but he struggles with the stamina side for me more so than the pace side.

Anwar El Ghazi with 260 MPG you could expect 6 goals from now until the end of the season.. tidy little moneyball move to keep us in grasp of the playoffs.

Crooks for El Ghazi anyone?

Matthew Hoppe looks like he brings in the same sorts of numbers as Josh Coburn.. but for some reason is not fancied?
