My parents bought a Labrador a couple of days after my 18th birthday and he became the joy of the whole family. I was at uni and I got the phone call that he'd ate rat poison on the dog field he went to every day and had to leave us. My heart still breaks to this day and although my family bought another lab and he's been with us 7 years and I myself now have a greyhound you never ever forget them, the memories they give you are unrivalled and they'll always be with you.

I'm so sorry for your loss, there is truly nothing worse and I hope you and your family are okay
