Payero

Not arguing that but he is now a first team player and is now regarded as such.
But still doesn't always start and when he does, he gets hooked early.

Played ONE full game for them. Played an average of 45 mins per appearance. He is a first team player for them but isn't exactly a key player. Basically same as he was here. In fact he played 90 minutes for us more than he did for them - playing 4 full 90 mins and when he got subbed off after starting it was later on in the game

He is a utility player it seems. Posting random tweets and saying he started against river when that was back at the start of September proves nothing - he's played 90 odd mins more for them in the league than he did here. In their final match of the season he came on for 10 minutes and match before that 19 minutes.

twitter can be made to show any point.

I think it was the lads choice to go home - think we’ll take a big hit on what we paid for him
we definitely will. He went home because he was homesick, so we aren't going to have the luxury of trying to get him comfortable all over again. We only signed him on a 3 year deal in 2021, so he will be entering last year of his deal. Doubt we will see him again. The clubs he will move to wont pay big fees for him

Bigger question is who was the mastermind in our recruitment team behind this one?

Payero, Forss, Hoppe. How much of our budget have we spent on these 3?

If he was a cheap punt you’d think fair enough but I’m sure I read it was in the region of 5M. I imagine his wages aren’t cheap either. Madness.
There was a report that it was 5m pesos though, which is a lot less than £5m. Don't know how true that is/was.

Even if it was a £5m deal, surely it included a number of criteria to be satisfied (that he won't have satisfied because he has barely played).

$5m when the US Dollar was 1.30 to the £ and some of this was performance related. This was reported in Argentina.

If Boca have taken him for nearly 12 months they will be paying his wages.

Hoppe was around £2.44m and Forss was £3m - its significant sums.

I think theelephant in the room is that we have zero creativity in the team. Like really nothing now Jones has been found out,. We haven't for years since Traore and even that's tenuous

Hopefully Carrick can sort the defence out first, annoyingly they were great last year. But we need creativity in the middle as the next priority

Jones and Giles when on form, add creativity. Its an area we can improve of course.

Leadbitter and Clayton were not creative, but effective in a team that finished second in 2016.
