People that criticise tav I just don’t get it

As For me he’s one of the most technically gifted player to come out of the academy in years. Everything he does is positive ok not everything comes off but he gives us drive and momentum.

there seems to be this bunch of fans that just don’t like him and as I say I just don’t get it.
He's one of those players that people apply a personality to without any shred of evidence. He works hard for the team yet for some reason there's an undercurrent of people claiming he's full of himself. He's clearly a very important player for us with just that final development of adding regular goals still to go. I think that will almost definitely happen.

This sums it up for me: Tav was delighted for Peyero to get his first goal.
It highlights team spirit and a selflessness and real caring about each other.
Tav now has a partner in midfield, which will give him the chance to play his own game.
Hes been trying to compensate for the team`s deficiencies and placed like a square peg in a round hole this season.

Tav seems to be a player capable of scoring more goals and doesn’t so it’s understandable why he might bet some “constructive criticism “

He’s brilliant off the ball, one of our better players at it. But he needs to put more thought into the final option, it’s plain as day to see, and the commentators picked up on Warnock shouting it at him when he decided to shoot from outside the box late in the game when there was no chance he would score.

Another ‘fishing’ thread aimed at dividing the board yet again. Personally I still have a lot of questions about not just Tav but one or two others but we have to have yet more Tav is amazing stuffed down our throats . The Tav is the best hysteria is wearing thin and if he really is that good he doesn’t need the Tav army constantly jumping to his defence, his performances should be enough. Not long ago Tav and Fry were £20 million+ players on here heading for the EPL with or without us. Those like me who said that was just daft were castigated for simply expressing an option. Now he just needs playing in a different role, his shooting, his general passing, his final pass are all excusable and those who felt he was probably along with Hernandez our least effective players on Saturday need to go to Specsavers. Let’s stop all the ‘Super Tav’ nonsense and just let him prove over the remainder of the season who is right and who is wrong. I hope he has a cracking season and gets us promoted - time will tell

I'd start him every game, and not at wing back as he's capable of so much more in a midfield role. I think he's great - UNTIL he shoots. I've never seen a professional footballer, especially an attacking player, so utterly incapable of shooting on target. I genuinely don't understand how he can miss so frequently and by so wide (or high) a margin. I'm sure he's just as frustrated as we are, but it's a problem that needs fixing. Others have mentioned that he can get greedy and he often shoots from ambitious angles and distances, which is true - but in reality it doesn't matter where he shoots from or how far out he is, because either way you can almost guarantee the ball won't be on target. Fix that and I'd love him for the rest of his Boro days.

I'm a big fan of Tav. Think he's a great talent and one of the first names on the team sheet for me, but I've been critical of his shooting and at times his decision making. What's wrong with that? If he can improve in these areas he'd be a hugely more influential player and we'd win more games without a doubt. I don't see anything wrong with criticism as long as it done in the right manner. Surely that's how you improve?

The issue is that he impresses and frustrates in almost equal measure - a clear sign of both his talent and the regard in which he is held.

As others have said, if - when - he calms down at those critical attacking moments, we will all see the player that some already see.

I love watching Tav although I do agree his shooting has been wayward in recent games.
He's not the only one though tbh. Shooting practice required.
Ward-Prowse is about the best from the edge of the box imo...someone give him a ring for some tips 😂

He will be fine - just trying to force things a bit too much at the minute. He’s still a key player for us and we look far more attacking when he plays.
I also think he's trying a little too hard at the moment, but he's playing in different positions almost game by game and things just haven't quite clicked.

But it's obvious we are a much more effective and potent team with him in it, but thankfully we have some much needed additional quality along side him this season too.

A very important player for us. It was no suprise we fell away so badly last season when him and Fry got crocked.

We are a far better side with him. He gives us energy and pops up all over the pitch in various positions.

Now 'that said' he's equally infuriating as he is brilliant. I find myself leaving more 'comments' about him during the official match threads than anyone else. I sometimes shake my head at his decision making (shooting when he should pass and vice versa).

The biggest thing he needs to brush up on is finishing. I mean the guys head just goes in front of goal. He doesn't miss by a inches.... Its feet😕. I'm not sure why? He definitely has plenty of ability. Although I'm not sure if he ever will improve.

Saying that if he suddenly gets 10 goals at 10 assists a season he won't be with us. They are stats that get a young english man into the prem.

Decent player. We are far better with him in team and you'd maybe notice that more when he's not. I think he's 22? Over 100 champo games. That's some achievement.

He was much more of an attacking threat last season and he seemed to be the only player we had who could play in the strikers.

I don't know his assist rate from last season but it seems to me it will have fallen away this season.

If he has gone backwards with his final ball there is a reason for that. It could be him being moved about a lot from game to game, it could be instructions from the bench it could also be, and this is my favourite, he is trying too hard. Another alternative is the players he is playing with change from time to time. I would think the game plan is a bit different when Uche is out lonr striker than when sporar is our loan striker. Then we go 4 4 2.

He is 22 years old and won't be the finished article yet. I like the lad and enjoy watching him play.

He hasn't had a senior pro of any quality upfront with him in the last 3 seasons to learn and be inspired from. If we had better alongside him he would have gained better experience in his career. Maybe now he does? I am looking forward to his stats at the end of this season with what looks like a better attacking team alongside him.

Tav creates chances and goal scoring opportunities.. folks take that as a give and don't seem to hold any value in it. We as a team have been guilty of not taking chances in and around the box Tav is doing that. If he missed he should have passed, if he passes.. he should have taken the shot!

If he creates 2-3 chances a game we've got people saying categorically that he should be putting those away or taken off.

IMAGINE PUTING AWAY TWO OR THREE CHANCES AWAY EVERY MATCH - imagine saying that with a straight face too. we have a midfielder who should be scoring 2 or 3 goals a game or just not play him at all.
