Perth Australia - How many Boro fans there?

Do you meet up?
My step daughter emigrated to Perth three weeks ago.

What is it like to live there?
Good areas/bad.
Climate - seems like a lot of rain (about 8 more inches than Teesside)

I was watching GMTV last week and they did an item on Christmas in Perth. They interviewed families who sent messages back home, and at the end of the item they panned across other families with message banners. Lo an behold, two families with Boro flags and one of them tagged out in Boro tops.
I think there is a fair few ex Teessiders out in Perth.

Here's one Boro fan who wishes he was flying out in February as planned and regular.
The climate is not faultless, but it is the climate California thinks it has.
I love North Yorkshire, but if I had to live anywhere else it would be WA.

Perth Metro is a fantastic city, but the area south west around Dunsborough/Margaret River is just wonderful.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all in WA and who have family/friends there.

Perth is fantastic - your step daughter will love it. I’ve got relatives out there and have visited a dozen or so times over the years. Loads of Teesside expats too (maybe due to the petrochemical industry)

Lots of development ongoing - whenever I I’m there, there’s always new housing estates and infrastructure cropping up that wasn’t there the last time I visited. My relatives are in the Rockingham / Safety Bay area- not trendiest of places but I love it

Love the place, especially Freo. Happy memories of being extremely pișșpotical in Armadale, the Rules at Subiaco and listening to Vin Garbutt in Rosie O'Gradys in Northbridge

One of my cousins has lived out there for nigh on 20 years, just outside Perth. They absolutely love it, and deliberately come home in Winter to banish any inkling of homesickness :ROFLMAO:

It always looks sunny and warm on the TV. It had a reputation for been a bit behind the times in the 1950s and 60s, when the £10 POMS went, but has developed a lot in the last 40 years. It seems to be where a lot of Teessiders have migrated to in recent years. One draw back is that its the only city on the West Coast so you have to fly to get to another urban area.

Had a great holiday over there and celebrated NY 2001. We were living in SE Asia at the time so wasn't really long haul. Stayed in Fremantle and went to Perth a few times. Thought it was fabulous. Fremantle has a real mediterranean feel about it. Didn't realise there was a Boro presence there, but I know a lass I went to sixth form with has been out there for some time.

I spent some of my childhood there, back then the one of the bus companies was run by someone from Teesside and loads of the drivers had Teesside accents. I think something like 1 in 8 of the population are British expats.
In terms of areas to live in it depends on what they want and their budget. Everyone would like to be on the coast or on the Swan River but the nice areas are very expensive nowadays.

The climate can be very hot mid summer, but the rest of the time it's perfect. There is plenty of rain but it tends to be in heavy bursts, none of this day after day of drizzle we get

Thanks for all your comments, very positive. They have not bought a house yet. One day I'm sure I will be heading over. Not looking forward to the long flights and jet lag though

My sister has lived in Perth for 15 years and loves it. As mentioned, the city has a large British expat community. Loads living there.
