Pesky lefty BBC

My view of Central BBC staff is older senior staff is live in Hampstead or Richmond upon Thames, second hone in West Country or Provence. Younger managerial staff Shoreditch, Glastonbury, smaller Greek island on holiday.

They haven't a clue what happens in Barnsley or Middlesbrough, in fact they probably know more about France than vast areas of the North.

What a piece of stereo typing claptrap Redwurzel. Funny but I know of at least 6 friends (and acquaintances thereof) who work in Central London for the BBC and none live (or holiday) in those areas. Ive no doubt some do but any organisation in central London will have management and senior emoloyees residing in those areas.

There'll be plenty who don't get the joke mind.

Same with Al Murray "the pub landlord". There'll be some who like him because they have the same views as the "character" and who completely miss the point (which is, ironically, taking the **** out of people like them).
If Norcott is playing a character he’s doing it superbly well! I actually think he has a good point with his criticism of the left, even though my politics are left of centre.

OK I went a bit over the top, but the BBC (particularly TV) had a history of being run (more senior positions) from London and the Home Counties by middle to upper middle class people. Its not a negative statement just what I have observed. Evidence accents that had to be used until the last 30 years and location of BBC staff for non regional services. ITV was more fragmented by region e,g, Grananda, Yorkshire, Central (ATV). I was told Channel 4 has its HQ in Leeds.

I am generally a supporter of the BBC and try to post stories from them as I believe they are fairly balanced overall. I am a bit surprised so many people feel they are not balanced. Some of the stories posted on FMTTM to me come from heavily biased sources who appear to carry strong agendas but call themselves news sites etc.

I think the great litmus test that the BBC remains a credible news source is that both sides of the political spectrum call them out as biased.

That said Maitlis calling out the worrying presence of a man trying to shape news content is a worry for the one bastion of independent public service news.

It's not just that they are putting tories into these top jobs but hard brexit tories, as will happen with the new PMs cabinet
