Petition to allow fans into non-league football

I guess the problem is that with no crowds in the other leagues it could attract a lot more to Non League if it was open but they don't have the infrastructure to handle the increased crowds safely.

Yes, it makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. Especially when you compare it to beaches as you said. I signed yesterday.
myfooty reported on fmttm.com
"It has been reported that FA have submitted 3 proposals to Government via the DCMS and it is believed that the FA's latest submission (of the 3) to the DCMS was for fans specifically at Steps 3-6 of NLS. (This represents tiers 7-10 of The English football league system.)

They proposed 15% capacity crowds rising to 30%.

The DCMS are supportive of it.

Number 10 confirmed they received it on 6th August but haven't yet made a decision either way."

Most of the clubs will, as much as any open air venue does at present anyway. At the Northern League level you could simply close the stands, or restrict them to very few, the extra fans would simply use the perimeter space with more than adequate safe distancing.
